Provides technical and clerical support for Detention Services, including maintaining inmate records, files, rosters, correspondence, and legal forms. Coordinates inmate transports and court-related appointments, manages mail and release procedures, and handles phones and public inquiries. Performs cash accounting, inmate money transactions, inventory, data entry, spreadsheet work, and general office duties while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.

Performs legal research, drafts and edits pleadings, motions and trial documents, files orders, tracks discovery and payments, maintains attorney files and schedules, and interacts with police, witnesses, victims, and agencies to support prosecutors and public defenders in pretrial and trial preparation.

Provide advanced administrative support for Juvenile Court programs: answer phones, prepare and proofread legal documents, maintain records and databases, process payments and payroll, schedule meetings, take minutes, handle public inquiries, and perform office inventory and bookkeeping tasks.

Manage and administer medical care program at the Juvenile Detention Center. Supervise nursing and mental health staff, develop policies, oversee medical records and EHR, coordinate patient care and transports, assist physician with exams, manage medications and supplies, perform quality assurance, and provide on-call emergency coverage.

Developmental internship for active-duty service members eligible for DoD SkillBridge. Participants receive supervised on-the-job training across Spokane County departments (Parks, Golf & Recreation and Medical Examiner), performing patrols, groundskeeping, visitor education, forensic support, autopsy assistance, report writing, and other entry- to intermediate-level tasks while gaining professional skills and mentorship.

Supervise inmates in a 24/7 correctional facility, enforce rules, conduct searches, counts, transports, tests, and bookings. Provide first aid, assist medical staff, prepare reports, testify in court, and maintain facility security and inmate welfare. Complete required training and background checks.

Lead development and execution of county-wide communications, marketing, public relations, and community engagement strategies supporting the BOCC and CEO. Advise leadership on complex issues, craft policy-related messaging, manage media relations, direct public outreach and emergency communications, oversee web and digital content, partner with policy advisors, and lead and mentor assigned staff to ensure consistent, transparent public messaging.

Unpaid internship assisting the Medical ExaminerOffice with death scene investigations, autopsy assistance, evidence collection, forensic imaging, case documentation, chain-of-custody, and administrative case file tasks under direct supervision. Interns will learn forensic techniques, safety/infection control, database use, and interact with grieving families in emotionally charged situations.

Use lived experience of recovery to provide peer support, advocacy, and mentoring for adults and youth with mental health and/or substance use disorders. Help develop and implement recovery plans, connect clients to community resources, transport clients as needed, document progress, and collaborate with clinical teams across HARPS, Diversion, Behavioral Health Agency, and Youth & Family Peer Navigator programs.
