Quality Engineer responsible for interpreting aerospace customer and technical requirements, maintaining QMS compliance, supporting audits, developing quality and inspection plans, and creating First Article Inspection plans. The role performs process and product audits, supports design reviews, trains personnel, leads corrective actions and continuous improvement, and applies statistical process control methods. Collaboration with customers and cross-functional manufacturing teams is central. This is an on-site role requiring aerospace quality experience, inspection knowledge, CATIA, Net-Inspect, AS9102, and auditing expertise.

Develop and implement manufacturing processes for sheet metal and aluminum extrusion parts, focusing on stretch forming (various presses), heat treatment, tooling, NPI, process monitoring, cost reduction, and cross-functional coordination to move programs from prototype to full-rate production.

Lead cross-functional Quality Clinic to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and eliminate non-conformances. Maintain procedures, analyze process capability using statistical methods, track metrics, mentor team members, chair RCCA meetings, and drive continuous improvement in aerospace manufacturing.

Leads customer quality and satisfaction for North American operations. Manages customer quality teams, complaints, escalations, root-cause investigations, corrective and preventive actions, scorecards, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. Partners with Operations, Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, and Customer Support to resolve quality concerns, reduce quality escapes, strengthen customer relationships, and communicate satisfaction trends and risks to senior leadership.

Create, modify, and interpret 2D mechanical drawings and 3D CAD models using Creo and/or SolidWorks. Support the engineering product lifecycle for naval aircraft systems, including design, production, sustainment, and obsolescence. Build and manage bills of materials, parts lists, and drawing trees while applying MIL-SPEC and ASME standards. Collaborate effectively with the Fleet Support Team and work independently in an office environment.

Develop and optimize multi-axis CNC mill programs (3-,4-,5-axis) from CAD (CATIA/Mastercam), create setup sheets and tool lists, verify via simulation and shop proofing, select tooling/feeds and speeds, collaborate with engineering, operations and quality to support production and new product introductions.

Create, update, and optimize NC programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis and sheet metal parts; plan production setups; produce shop drawings, setup sheets, and tooling lists; support operators with troubleshooting, tool/method tests, and program updates to current standards.

Program and modify 3/4- and 5-axis high-speed machining centers using CATIA datasets and Mastercam. Interpret drawings, datasets, and CMM reports to develop programs, create setup sheets, verify initial setups, and troubleshoot machining/quality issues. Maintain program libraries, DPD/PCMS work instructions, participate in audits and root-cause corrective actions, and collaborate with engineers, production, and quality teams. Use precision measuring instruments and apply GD&T and machining math.

Manage import/export compliance, documentation, and customs processes. Maintain tariff classifications, coordinate with brokers, support duty refunds, analyze duty spend, partner with supply chain, ensure ITAR/EAR/OFAC compliance, and support audits and training.

Manage and execute engineering sustainment projects for F/A-18 & EA-18G at NAS North Island. Define project scope, schedules, specifications, tests, staffing, and status reporting. Coordinate cross-functional engineering and logistics teams, resolve issues, control design and schedule changes, and liaise with stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Oversee QA/QC, MRB, document control and source prep; develop and revise procedures, set quality objectives, reduce defects/scrap, manage QC staff, train personnel, handle customer complaints, and run internal/external audits to aerospace and quality standards. Coordinate with production and plant management, support process development projects, report metrics, and travel to other sites as required.

Support NAVAIR FRCSW by developing and maintaining configuration management systems, CM plans, toolsets, and baselines. Manage lifecycle of hardware/software items, maintain CM documentation library, collaborate with IT operations, and implement cybersecurity CM workflows. Requires use of Atlassian Jira, SharePoint, Planner, Office 365, and Power Apps.

Assist in the assembly of aerospace components, including drilling, deburring, and using blueprints to ensure quality and compliance.

Operate and set up sheetmetal forming equipment, perform first-part checks and 100% inspections, use measuring tools and blueprints, complete production documentation, perform minor machine maintenance, follow safety and quality procedures, and participate in continuous improvement and team activities.
