Staff Writer will produce fast news coverage, reported features, explainers, commentary, and long-form stories for Slate’s life section, while contributing to politics and culture coverage. Responsibilities include generating story ideas, researching and sourcing, conducting original reporting, analyzing cultural trends, and writing clean, lively copy. The role requires strong editorial judgment, creativity, online research skills, and at least five years of writing and reporting experience.

Produce daily news podcast episodes by developing stories, booking and preparing guests, conducting interviews, recording sessions, writing and fact-checking scripts, editing audio and video, mixing episodes, creating promotional clips, and supporting editorial meetings and production teams.

Develop and maintain features for a podcast subscription platform using PHP and Laravel. Scale the application, support user and administrator experiences, build website embeds and third-party integrations, and help apply AI tools to accelerate development and improve code quality and security. Collaborate within a small, Agile-oriented remote team while evaluating technologies and influencing the evolving product stack.

Manage onboarding, launch, and ongoing support for internal podcast programs. Advise clients on adoption and communication strategy, create support resources (FAQs, guides, templates), and build trusted client relationships to scale private audio for employee communications.
