Build and maintain scalable full-stack web application features and distributed microservices. Own complex features from technical design through production deployment, improve the web application’s technical strategy, support performance and reliability, participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot incidents, and maintain high service levels. Collaborate with product, infrastructure, design, and API teams while mentoring engineers and improving CI/CD, containerization, and observability.

Build end-to-end frontend and backend features for Shippo’s billing, fraud prevention, and insurance products. Develop APIs, services, databases, and customer-facing interfaces; create reusable components; support on-call operations; execute product roadmaps; collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams; and implement telemetry to measure technical and business impact.

Own Shippo’s API platform roadmap, including label creation, MCP, SDKs, developer documentation, onboarding, and API standards. Define platform architecture and integration testing standards with engineering leadership, represent developer needs across teams, engage customers to identify integration friction, and mentor other product managers. The role requires deep API, developer experience, and SDK expertise, along with experience in MCP, agentic commerce, or LLM-driven integrations.

Own and evolve high-throughput backend services that deliver machine learning-powered predictions to merchants. Responsibilities include API design, service decomposition, Python development, PostgreSQL and Kafka integration, distributed systems reliability, observability, feature pipelines, ML serving, model deployment, versioning, rollback, and prediction monitoring. The engineer will partner with Data Science, lead architectural decisions and technical reviews, mentor teammates, and establish strong engineering practices for production data products.

Build and own rule evaluation engine components for Shippo’s customer-facing data products. Develop high-throughput Python and FastAPI backend services, event-driven integrations, PostgreSQL data models, and React configuration interfaces. Ship features end-to-end with feature flags, testing, observability, and production validation. Collaborate with Data Science, Analytics Engineering, and Product teams, participate in on-call response, contribute to technical design, and help onboard teammates.

Develop and scale backend services for address validation, package tracking, and pickups. Responsibilities include implementing, testing, deploying, and monitoring high-availability services handling millions of daily requests; improving performance and reliability; participating in architecture and code reviews; building automated tests; responding to incidents through on-call rotations; and translating business needs into scalable technical solutions.

Build and operate scalable backend services for high-volume shipping label purchases and refunds. Responsibilities include designing microservices, APIs, databases, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, performance improvements, production deployments, incident response, and on-call support. Collaborate with business teams on requirements and product functionality, participate in reviews, and promote reliable, maintainable engineering practices. The role also requires consistent use and configuration of AI coding tools throughout the software development lifecycle.

Own Shippo’s company P&L, annual operating plan, forecasting, monthly executive reporting, and quarterly board materials. Lead financial modeling, headcount and cost management, transaction readiness, M&A diligence, strategic investment analysis, and FP&A systems improvements. Partner with the CFO, executive leadership, Accounting, People Ops, Engineering, Revenue Operations, and Sales Finance to translate financial results into actionable business recommendations.
