Lead Pylon’s underwriting domain, including credit policy, quality, exceptions, controls, and escalation processes. Translate underwriting expertise and guidelines into requirements for the Decisioning platform, establish monitoring and QA mechanisms, analyze automation and manual-review metrics, and partner with Product, Engineering, Compliance, Processing, Capital Markets, and Account Management. The role focuses on safely expanding automated mortgage decisions while maintaining credit quality and addressing complex underwriting scenarios.

Owns mortgage processing expertise and operating strategy from loan submission through underwriting readiness. This role standardizes workflows, identifies automation opportunities, defines exception handling, SLAs, controls, and performance metrics, and translates expert processing judgment into product requirements. The Head of Processing partners with underwriting, product, engineering, and account management teams to improve throughput, quality, cycle time, and automation coverage while building scalable human-review and training systems.

Owns mortgage post-closing operations from funding through downstream readiness. Defines controls, quality standards, exception workflows, KPIs, and escalation paths; translates mortgage document, collateral, deficiency, and reconciliation expertise into product requirements. Partners with Product, Engineering, and lending teams to automate workflows, reduce defects and rework, establish QA operations, and scale funded-loan volume without proportional manual cleanup.

Own mortgage closing and funding operations from clear-to-close through funding. Translate workflows, settlement nuances, controls, and expert judgment into automation requirements and operating rules. Build review queues, SLAs, escalation paths, quality standards, and metrics while reducing redraws, delays, defects, and manual work. Partner with underwriting, account management, post-closing, product, and engineering teams, and develop the expert operations layer needed to support increasing loan volume.

Own the broker-facing account management experience at Pylon. Build service standards, escalation processes, communication systems, KPIs, and operating cadences while partnering cross-functionally to resolve issues and eliminate recurring mortgage workflow friction. Develop the team as needed and distinguish between problems requiring operational solutions and those requiring product improvements, enabling significant loan-volume growth without degrading broker service.

Lead and manage closing and post-closing operations, oversee third-party fulfillment partners, develop SOPs, workflows, SLAs, and QC, provide technical guidance to engineering, conduct second-level reviews, train teams, and ensure regulatory compliance and on-time funding.

Serve as a senior operational partner to originating customers, owning end-to-end issue resolution, ensuring loans progress to CTC and close on time, preventing compliance risks, and partnering with underwriting, product, and engineering to improve automated workflows.

Lead technical oversight and management of underwriting operations and third-party fulfillment. Build and improve underwriting workflows, SOPs, SLAs, and QC. Configure underwriting systems, conduct 2nd-level reviews, manage escalations, train teams, and partner with engineering to scale compliant, high-quality mortgage origination.

Own end-to-end delivery of closed loans to investors and whole-loan purchasers, manage suspense, rebuttals, and curative documentation, lead offshore post-closing teams, track purchase timelines and cash timing, serve as primary escalation for delivery disputes, and drive reporting, SLAs, and process improvements to reduce defects.

Build Pylon's audience and movement by owning channel strategy, creating opinionated and original content, growing founder and brand presence, running rapid growth experiments, and activating communities, media, and influencers to convert curiosity into customers.

Build and lead Pylon's in-house talent function: own sourcing, full-cycle recruiting, structured interviews, employer branding, onboarding, retention, hiring metrics, and a small recruiting team. Prioritize hiring senior engineers, scale processes to replace agencies, and partner with leadership on headcount, comp, and leveling.
