Support developers and businesses using the PlanetScale database platform by troubleshooting production issues across applications, databases, infrastructure, and product behavior. The role involves resolving tickets and technical questions, explaining queries and workflows, creating documentation and playbooks, identifying recurring customer friction, and partnering with Engineering on product improvements and scalable support processes.

Shape and evolve PlanetScale’s visual identity across digital, print, experiential, and merchandise touchpoints. Create technical diagrams, illustrations, web assets, campaign systems, event branding, data visualizations, social graphics, and design templates. Collaborate with marketing and events teams, maintain brand guidelines, explore visual directions, manage multiple deadlines, and translate complex database concepts into compelling experiences for developers and technical decision-makers.

Conduct outbound prospecting to identify companies that need PlanetScale, research their technical infrastructure and business needs, and create AI-assisted campaigns using tools such as Claude and Clay. Engage engineers and technical leaders, qualify opportunities, build pipeline, and identify effective outbound strategies. The role also contributes to developing the company’s outbound playbook and automating repetitive sales work.

Support PlanetScale customers and developers by troubleshooting production applications, databases, infrastructure, connectivity, queries, schema changes, and application behavior. Resolve issues across tickets, Slack, and public channels; create documentation and playbooks; identify recurring product friction; and collaborate with Engineering on improvements. The role requires strong technical debugging, SQL and database knowledge, programming literacy, customer communication, empathy, organization, and independent cross-functional execution.

Build internal tools, AI-enabled agents, bots, integrations, and dashboards that automate incident response, support, onboarding, and operational workflows. The engineer will integrate LLM APIs and AI coding tools, work with Slack and PagerDuty, ship rapid improvements, and own projects from design through ongoing support while collaborating with senior engineers and leadership.

Own PlanetScale's end-to-end events strategy and execution across developer experiences, conferences, dinners, meetups, and hybrid formats. Set creative standards, manage budget and vendors, build a global events calendar, drive measurable outcomes (developer acquisition, product adoption, pipeline), and operate as a hands-on individual contributor while growing the function.

The Developer Educator will create technical content, speak at events, enhance documentation, and engage the developer community through online platforms and conferences, requiring 20-50% travel.

Advise and handle enterprise customer support requests for PlanetScale platform, act as customer-facing SME, identify and escalate product gaps, collaborate with TAM/Engineering/Sales Engineering, and participate in on-call rotation for high-priority incidents.

Design and build scalable backend systems for PlanetScale's database platform (Vitess/Postgres), collaborate on distributed systems challenges, work autonomously and with customers, optimize performance, and mentor engineers while operating systems at production scale.

Design and build the control plane for Postgres clusters, ensure data protection, automate database operations, and collaborate with customers to enhance the platform.

As a Software Engineer on the Insights team, you'll develop observability products and enhance database performance monitoring for clients using Vitess, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.

The Solutions Engineer partners with Sales and Customer Engineering, guiding customers through database migrations and optimizing solutions.
