Lead analytical projects using large behavioral datasets to support Ofcom’s regulatory, policy, and enforcement work. Build robust, documented processes for data ingestion, cleaning, processing, analysis, and visualization. Produce reproducible statistics and insights, manage project delivery, collaborate with internal teams and external data providers, and contribute to communications market reporting and other research activities.

The role requires strong organization, judgment, confidentiality, communication, attention to detail, and flexibility. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Supports Ofcom’s supervision of regulated online services under the Online Safety Act 2023. Responsibilities include building relationships with technology firms, assessing user protections and risk assessments, gathering and analyzing information, preparing briefings and reports, supporting supervision strategies, coordinating internal stakeholders, and contributing to regulatory initiatives. The role requires policy or regulated-industry experience, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective planning, and relationship-building abilities.

Supports Ofcom’s development and implementation of online safety regulation under the Online Safety Act 2023. Responsibilities include researching evidence, analysing policy options and impacts, drafting briefings and consultation documents, supporting project management, engaging with online services, and monitoring technological and public policy developments. The role may cover areas including AI, age assurance, women and girls’ online safety, and harmful or illegal content.

Leads Ofcom’s research innovation and data strategy, overseeing statistics, analytics, behavioural research, innovative research methods, and programme management. The role develops responsible data and AI capabilities, improves access to insight, strengthens cross-organisational collaboration, manages senior teams and budgets, and represents Ofcom externally. It requires strategic leadership, advanced data science and research expertise, data ethics knowledge, programme management, change leadership, and the ability to communicate complex analysis to regulatory, policy, commercial, and external stakeholders.
