Represent indigent clients in felony (and occasional misdemeanor/juvenile/appeal) cases, maintain a partial caseload, conduct legal research and investigations, draft and argue motions, supervise and train staff, assist Chief Public Defender with policies and operations, and assume Chief duties in their absence.

Represent indigent clients in misdemeanor (and occasionally felony, juvenile, and appeal) matters: evaluate, prepare, and manage cases; perform legal research; draft motions and briefs; conduct investigations and interviews; argue hearings and trials; communicate with clients and stakeholders; supervise paralegals, legal secretaries, and investigators; and participate in ongoing training and education.

Maintain financial records for the Veterans Cemetery and county revenue cost centers: prepare invoices and reports, perform reconciliations and journal entries, analyze revenue and budget variances, reconcile employee benefits billings, and support special financial projects and audits.

Provide administrative, legal, clerical, and secretarial support to the County Attorney's Office. Duties assigned per department needs. Applicants must submit resume, supporting documents, and proof of enrollment; pre-employment drug screening required.

Unpaid internship providing administrative, legal, clerical, and secretarial support to the Public Defender's Office. Duties assigned per department needs. Candidates must be enrolled in an associate, bachelor, or Juris Doctor program, provide transcript or counselor letter, have identification, and complete pre-employment drug screening.

Guard, observe, transport, book, classify and release inmates while enforcing facility rules. Conduct searches, headcounts, inspections, crisis intervention, and document incidents. Complete field training, maintain TCOLE certification, assist inmate needs, and ensure safety of staff, inmates, and the public.

Provides direct supervision, security, and care of juveniles in a regional juvenile facility. Monitors classes and activities, enforces rules, conducts searches and drug/alcohol screens, documents incidents, assists with counseling and life skills, oversees visitation/mail/housekeeping, and responds to crises. Completes required training and certifications and may act as shift supervisor when assigned.

Performs financial recordkeeping, reconciliations, journal entries, reporting, and analysis for county funds and projects. Supports audits and the ACFR, reconciles assets, debt, leases, and oversees MPO financials. Ensures compliance with laws and accounting standards and may report onsite during emergency events.
