Teams at Nueces County

Lead internal auditor who performs and coordinates financial and non-financial audits, reviews and mentors audit staff, issues audit reports, develops audit plans and programs, conducts vulnerability assessments, advises department management on internal controls, and ensures compliance with statutes and auditing standards.

Represent indigent clients in felony (and occasional misdemeanor/juvenile/appeal) cases, maintain a partial caseload, conduct legal research and investigations, draft and argue motions, supervise and train staff, assist Chief Public Defender with policies and operations, and assume Chief duties in their absence.

Represent indigent clients in misdemeanor (and occasionally felony, juvenile, and appeal) matters: evaluate, prepare, and manage cases; perform legal research; draft motions and briefs; conduct investigations and interviews; argue hearings and trials; communicate with clients and stakeholders; supervise paralegals, legal secretaries, and investigators; and participate in ongoing training and education.
