Teams at Nueces County

Reviews and monitors departmental budgets, prepares budget projections and proposals, analyzes financial documents, compiles special reports, assists with annual and capital budgets, prepares budget change orders, ensures compliance with statutes and policies, and supports budget hearings and special projects.

Represent indigent clients in felony (and occasional misdemeanor/juvenile/appeal) cases, maintain a partial caseload, conduct legal research and investigations, draft and argue motions, supervise and train staff, assist Chief Public Defender with policies and operations, and assume Chief duties in their absence.

Represent indigent clients in misdemeanor (and occasionally felony, juvenile, and appeal) matters: evaluate, prepare, and manage cases; perform legal research; draft motions and briefs; conduct investigations and interviews; argue hearings and trials; communicate with clients and stakeholders; supervise paralegals, legal secretaries, and investigators; and participate in ongoing training and education.
