Own the systems and frameworks used to evaluate Newcode’s AI products. Build automated and human-in-the-loop evaluations, datasets, benchmarks, metrics, regression suites, monitoring, and quality tooling. Analyze model failures, investigate root causes, and evaluate changes to models, prompts, retrieval systems, agents, and workflows. Collaborate with Software Engineering, Product, and Legal Engineering to translate legal workflows into measurable quality standards and improvements.

Own and operate the end-to-end retrieval pipeline: parsing/chunking, embeddings, vector indexing, semantic+keyword search, reranking, and agentic retrieval loops. Build evaluation (golden sets, metrics, regression tests), ship robust Python/FastAPI services, ensure tenant isolation and data security, and make multilingual retrieval reliable under production load.

Lead testing strategy for AI-powered legal products: build evaluation frameworks, design test plans, measure AI outputs, run regression and UAT, identify risks, and partner with engineering to improve quality and scale the testing function.

You will manage cloud environments and deployment pipelines, ensure reliability, security, and isolation for AI product infrastructure, and collaborate with engineers.

Provide strategic in-house legal support for commercial contracts, corporate governance, IP protection, compliance (including Vanta/OneTrust and ISO standards), and risk & disputes. Draft, review, and negotiate agreements; manage corporate entities, cap table and compliance programs; advise leadership and partner with business teams to mitigate legal and regulatory risk.

Design and animate motion assets for product launches, marketing, and social channels. Create product-led animations that explain complex legal-AI concepts, build reusable motion systems and templates, collaborate with design and marketing, and explore AI tools to streamline creative workflows.

Own customer relationships for AI-powered legal solutions, translate client needs into scalable implementations, drive onboarding and adoption, run workshops and pilots, document best practices, gather customer feedback to influence product, and support renewals and growth.

Lead design and scaling of legal AI evaluation frameworks and benchmarks, build and maintain datasets, audit and score AI legal outputs, define metrics focused on reasoning and citation accuracy, and collaborate with engineering to translate legal errors into model fine-tuning feedback.

This position offers a fully funded PhD scholarship to design AI systems addressing legal industry needs, requiring a Master's in law and industrial experience.
