Establish and operate SWPC’s project portfolio management function, transitioning from annual operating plans to continuous planning. Develop and advance UFS Weather Model infrastructure for in-core data assimilation, state management, rewind functionality, coupling, and high-resolution forecasting. Build automated regression tests, support UFS and JEDI integration, debug complex HPC model issues, and apply Git-based development, CI, documentation, and Agile/DevOps practices. Collaborate with software engineers, physical scientists, and data assimilation specialists to modernize NWS forecasting systems.

Design and improve the spaceweather.gov user experience through information architecture, dashboards, maps, charts, wireframes, prototypes, user research, and usability testing. Build an accessible Figma design system aligned with USWDS and NOAA standards, create production-ready visual designs, and provide detailed specifications and assets for engineering implementation. The role translates complex space weather data into usable interfaces for technical stakeholders and the public.

Supports federal cybersecurity compliance and continuous Authority to Operate for NDBC systems. Responsibilities include maintaining RMF artifacts, leading audits and authorization processes, conducting vulnerability scans and security impact analyses, applying DISA STIGs and CIS Benchmarks, monitoring logs and SIEM dashboards, mitigating threats, and communicating security risks to technical teams and leadership.

Designs and maintains high-throughput geospatial and scientific computing pipelines for flood mapping, terrain analysis, hydrologic modeling, and forecasting. Develops cloud-native data infrastructure and backend APIs using AWS, optimizes large-scale scientific workflows, and applies Docker, CI/CD, testing, and modern software engineering practices. Collaborates with hydrologists and scientists to deliver reliable, scalable systems.

Provides administrative and program support for NOAA student scholarship programs, including application review, student progress tracking, records maintenance, inquiries, events, meetings, recruitment, outreach, correspondence, calendars, alumni tracking, and scholar badge coordination. The role also guides junior contractor staff and serves as an on-site supervisor.

Develop, test, deploy, and sustain operational scientific applications supporting space weather forecasting. Responsibilities include Python and Java development, REST APIs, AWS integration, Docker containerization, infrastructure automation, CI/CD, database management, scientific data integration, production transitions, troubleshooting, and Tier 3 on-call support in a high-availability operational environment.

Supports the National Oceanographic Partnership Program through inter-agency coordination with NOAA and the Navy’s Office of Naval Research. Responsibilities include managing inter-agency agreement drafts, planning work group meetings, coordinating funding transfers and annual spend plans, developing annual reports, conducting outreach, briefing leadership, and identifying funding opportunities with NOAA science programs and laboratories. Performs land-cover data production, quality assurance, remote-sensing and GIS analysis, and processing of raster and vector datasets. Responsibilities include working with imagery, LiDAR, elevation data, map services, metadata, automated GIS workflows, and derivative products such as maps, statistics, StoryMaps, and web applications. Supports NOAA coastal management projects independently and collaboratively.

Build and maintain responsive, accessible front-end interfaces within Drupal 10 for operational and experimental space weather websites. Develop reusable components, integrate dashboards and scientific data visualizations, collaborate with backend developers, and optimize interfaces across browsers, devices, and viewports. The role requires strong UI/UX engineering, modern web technologies, Drupal theming, accessibility compliance, and experience translating complex scientific data into intuitive user experiences.

Develop, maintain, and test scientific software for space weather modeling, data analysis, forecasting workflows, and testbed experiments. Responsibilities include processing observational data, containerizing applications, integrating models and data sources, performing quality control, creating visualization tools, and collaborating with scientists, engineers, and forecasters. The role also requires software documentation, technical communication, and support for research-to-operations activities.

Provides federal budget formulation, forecasting, cost analysis, compliance review, financial monitoring, procurement and grant administration, contract deliverable tracking, and center operational support. Coordinates ocean-related science and technology projects, grants, funding announcements, mission planning, budgets, agreements, task orders, and partnership reporting. Works with NOAA laboratories, universities, cooperative institutes, and marine environmental organizations to plan projects, define operational requirements, allocate resources, and monitor execution.
