The role requires horse-handling expertise, physical strength, regulatory licensing, and the ability to work outdoors around horses and machinery.

Oversee starting-gate operations during training and live horse racing. Ensure horses are safely loaded, start races fairly, supervise gate schooling and assistant starters, issue gate cards, document horse behavior in InCompass, review entrant notes, implement safety measures, and coordinate with veterinarians, trainers, jockeys, riders, and track management. Requires thoroughbred horse knowledge, substantial related experience, physical ability to handle large horses, regulatory licensing, and a background check.

Inspect horses’ shoes in the paddock, verify compliance with racing policies, and repair or reposition displaced shoes under trainer direction. The role requires horse-handling experience, knowledge of racing rules, customer service, English communication, professional conduct, physical stamina, and the ability to work outdoors in noisy environments. Applicants must pass a background check and obtain any required regulatory permits, including a Texas Racing Commission License.

Supervises race-track training and paddock activities, including entries, equipment changes, eligibility checks, draw support, scheduling, saddling, jockey coordination, and horse identification. Coordinates with starters, clockers, racing secretaries, trainers, and stewards to ensure compliance with racing rules and timely post operations. Provides customer service, maintains records, and reports paddock issues or delays.

Supervise landscaping crews and day-to-day site operations, including scheduling, delegation, training, safety enforcement, equipment maintenance, landscaping work, loading and unloading, and minor repairs. Manage subordinate supervisors and handle hiring, performance feedback, discipline, complaints, and conflict resolution. Maintain commercial grounds, sidewalks, parking areas, planters, and other property features while ensuring company policies, service standards, and customer expectations are met.

Accurately times horse workouts and trial races, records and enters timing data, distributes reports, coordinates workout rules and first-time starters, and alerts ambulances, outriders, and security during track accidents. Requires dependable attendance, schedule flexibility, occasional overtime, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Texas Racing Commission license.

Determines and records the official finishing order for horse races, communicates placings to stewards, mutuels, and chart callers, and maintains race records. Operates tote board and photo finish systems, stops betting at race start, processes entries and registration documents, answers phones, and completes placing documentation. Requires knowledge of racing rules, strong communication and customer service skills, English proficiency, regulatory licensing, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment.

Supports racing safety initiatives and compliance administration under the Safety Director. Prepares reports and correspondence, assists horsemen with HISA registration, maintains spreadsheets and digital records, uploads measurements and work orders, records meeting minutes, supports inspections and events, and manages administrative assignments. Requires accurate data entry, strong communication, confidentiality, flexibility for weekends and holidays, and frequent proximity to horses and outdoor conditions.

Protects customers, employees, and property by patrolling premises, monitoring surveillance systems, checking access points, responding to incidents, documenting observations, and enforcing security procedures. Provides first aid during emergencies, communicates with management and dispatch, assists patrons, identifies hazards, and maintains order. Requires obtaining CPR, AED, first aid, Texas Racing Commission, and Texas private security credentials while meeting physical, licensing, and background-check requirements.

Provides unarmed security for customers, employees, and property by patrolling premises, monitoring surveillance systems, checking access points, responding to incidents, documenting observations, and assisting during emergencies. The role interacts with the public, operates communications and alarm equipment, enforces security procedures, administers first aid when needed, and maintains required Texas security and racing licenses.
