Law reform legal interns support impact litigation and policy initiatives addressing systemic issues affecting Legal Aid clients. Responsibilities may include legal and factual research, client interviewing, discovery and trial practice, drafting legal papers and policy memoranda, legislative testimony, and related projects. Applicants must be second-year law students in good standing with strong research, writing, communication, analytical, and project-completion skills, plus a commitment to racial and social justice.

Provides legal consultation and representation to noncitizens in non-detained removal proceedings, affirmative immigration matters, asylum cases, USCIS matters, and Family Court SIJS proceedings. The attorney manages case files, handles a high-volume caseload, trains volunteers and law students, conducts community education, collaborates across interdisciplinary teams, and represents Legal Aid in immigrant communities.

Supervising Attorney will lead Prisoners' Rights Project litigation and policy work, maintain an active caseload, direct legislative and administrative advocacy, supervise and develop staff, coordinate with pro bono and internal partners, manage unit operations, and conduct community education and outreach to advance systemic reforms for incarcerated people.

Leads the citywide Employment Law Unit, overseeing employment litigation, direct legal services, systemic advocacy, policy reform, community partnerships, grants, and staff management. Supervises attorneys, paralegals, and managers; develops litigation strategy; ensures quality representation; manages resources and reporting; and represents the unit with community organizations, agencies, elected officials, courts, and media. The role also supports coalition-building, trainings, outreach, organizational planning, and workplace equity initiatives.

This internship involves engaging in Legal Aid's law reform work, including legal and factual research, client interviews, and contributing to legal documentation and policy reform efforts.

Provide counsel to non-citizen clients and criminal defense teams on immigration consequences of arrests, represent clients in criminal and related matters, pursue mitigation strategies, train staff and community, engage in policy advocacy, and optionally handle removal defense and affirmative immigration cases. May require evening and weekend hours.

Conduct independent criminal defense investigations including witness and client interviews, crime scene documentation and sketches, evidence collection and chain-of-custody management, records and social media research, testimony in court, and close collaboration with attorneys and defense teams. Frequent travel and irregular-hour fieldwork required across NYC boroughs.

Support employee relations by conducting investigations into policy violations, managing employee cases, coaching managers on performance and disciplinary actions, facilitating ADA accommodation requests, and collaborating with HR and legal teams to resolve conflicts and improve workplace relations. May provide trainings and participate in professional development.

The Pro Bono Scholars Program offers final-year law students the opportunity to engage in full-time pro bono service while completing their academic requirements.

The Staff Attorney will develop and conduct federal litigation, assist with class action lawsuits, provide consultation, and train staff on federal court issues for non-citizens.

Support Accounting Manager by overseeing day-to-day accounting: review general ledger, prepare GAAP financial statements, perform monthly reconciliations, manage endowment/investment accounting, participate in month-end close, prepare audit and Form 990 schedules, assist cash flow analysis, document procedures, and support process improvements and team collaboration.

Supervising Attorney will coordinate and supervise the Immigrant Opportunity Initiatives program, mentor and train attorneys and staff, provide legal oversight and strategy for non-detained removal defense and affirmative immigration matters, advise on appeals and federal litigation, manage caseloads, assist with program development, funding, reporting, and engage in policy advocacy.
