Teams at Legal Aid Society

Supervises criminal defense investigators, supports recruiting and onboarding, develops training programs, manages caseloads and investigative resources, evaluates staff performance, and promotes investigative best practices. The role carries an active caseload, assists defense teams in the field, manages schedules and reimbursements, resolves personnel concerns, supports technology improvements, and collaborates with attorneys and organizational leaders across New York City.

Leads the LGBTQ+ Law and Policy Initiative through impact litigation, legislative and policy advocacy, staff training, community engagement, public education, research, and coalition building. Develops strategies addressing systemic inequities affecting LGBTQ+ clients, supervises staff and the Name Change Clinic, supports legal teams, represents the organization publicly, and cultivates partnerships with community organizations, legislators, courts, and government agencies.

Represents low-income immigrants in federal district and appellate courts, handling habeas petitions, petitions for review, Administrative Procedure Act actions, class actions, and other affirmative litigation. Provides legal consultation and federal litigation training to staff, develops pro bono resources, collaborates with pro bono counsel and volunteers, and manages case files and databases.
