Maintains the accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, and completeness of patient health information. Scans, processes, reviews, and organizes medical records according to medical, legal, ethical, administrative, and regulatory requirements. Supports timely availability of records for patient care and business needs while managing multiple tasks, interruptions, and deadlines. Uses medical terminology, Microsoft Office, PDF software, databases, and multiple EHR systems.

Provides administrative support for the Health Information Management department, including answering calls, greeting patients and visitors, coordinating communications and events, and maintaining confidentiality. Processes medical information requests according to hospital policies and applicable laws. Requires strong communication, organization, analytical, multitasking, interpersonal, and customer-service skills, along with familiarity with medical terminology and proficiency in Microsoft Office, databases, and PDF software.

Compiles itemized hospital bills, verifies patient insurance coverage, calculates insurance benefits, and coordinates with admitting, medical records, and physicians’ office staff. The role also supports performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities while maintaining accurate data entry and understanding Medicare, Medicaid, HMO, PPO, and private insurance requirements.

Provide patient-centered medical-surgical nursing care including assessments, medication reconciliation and administration, EMR documentation, clinical judgment, time management, teamwork, and adherence to regulatory and quality standards in a 16-bed critical access hospital.

Provide primary care across all ages in collaboration with a supervising physician: health promotion, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring chronic conditions, referrals, prescriptions, and office procedures under standing orders and protocols.

Provide direct patient care in a primary care clinic: vitals, medication reconciliation, patient education, assist with procedures, manage daily task list and EMR documentation under provider supervision.

Provide patient care in a primary care orthopedic clinic: take vitals, perform medication reconciliation, document in EMR, assist with office procedures, pre-op instructions, scheduling, and process daily task lists under provider supervision.
