Lead and develop a team building reliable frontend, backend, AI, and real-time collaboration capabilities. Own and ship polished frontend and full-stack product features for student and teacher experiences. Partner with product and design teams, shape technical direction, improve frontend quality and performance, design APIs, and contribute throughout development, testing, rollout, and support. Mentor engineers, communicate technical tradeoffs, and work in a fast-paced startup environment. The role requires strong React and TypeScript expertise, backend fundamentals, and in-person work four days weekly in San Francisco or New York City.

Own and evolve scalable backend systems and infrastructure powering educational products. Build end-to-end features, design APIs, operate production systems, improve observability and CI/CD, support reliability and incident response, and provide technical leadership through architecture discussions, code reviews, and mentorship. The role requires close collaboration with product and design teams, comfort with ambiguity, and occasional full-stack contribution.

Perform hands-on manual, regression, exploratory, functional, acceptance, and release testing across web applications and AI-powered workflows. Create actionable bug reports, collaborate with engineers to reproduce and verify fixes, assess usability and edge cases, support release readiness, and contribute to QA documentation. The role requires validating complex teacher and student workflows and evaluating the reliability and graceful degradation of non-deterministic AI outputs.

Own and improve core backend systems and infrastructure: build reliable, scalable services, improve observability and CI/CD, operate production systems, design APIs and data layers, lead technical decisions, mentor engineers, and partner with product to ship end-to-end features.

Lead quality strategy and automation across frontend, backend, and AI services. Design scalable end-to-end and performance tests, build workload models, diagnose bottlenecks, integrate AI-assisted testing tools, improve CI/CD test observability, mentor engineers, and raise release confidence for a fast-moving education AI platform.

Own a product domain end-to-end: define strategy, roadmaps, and specs; collaborate with engineering, design, and GTM; ship features rapidly; use data and user research to prioritize; iterate on adoption and quality; drive experimentation and cross-functional alignment.
