Develop optical communication links between room-temperature electronics and cryogenic superconducting quantum hardware. Build and operate dilution-refrigerator experiments, characterize photonic and cryogenic components, automate measurements, evaluate noise and gate fidelity, and assess scalability of quantum control systems. Contribute to technical decisions, grant projects, research proposals, documentation, and collaboration with internal teams and external research partners.

The VP of Product will define IQM’s product vision and roadmap across quantum hardware, software, integration, and cloud offerings. The role leads the Product organization, translates R&D milestones into commercially viable products, guides the transition toward industrial quantum error correction and fault-tolerant systems, identifies markets and customer segments, and partners with executives, Technology, Sales, and Commercial teams on prioritization, budgets, and strategic growth.

Manage quantum technology and R&D projects from planning through delivery. Coordinate engineering, product, finance, and external partners; track schedules, dependencies, budgets, risks, and deliverables; maintain project documentation in Jira and Confluence; prepare reports for German funding agencies; communicate technical progress to varied audiences; and improve scalable project management processes.

Provides legal counsel on German corporate law, corporate governance, capital markets compliance, group entities, M&A, and commercial agreements. Supports shareholder and board matters, drafts and negotiates contracts, maintains legal templates and governance processes, coordinates cross-border stakeholders and external counsel, and delivers practical advice to a growing public quantum-computing company.

Lead government-funded R&D programs in Japan from initiation through audits, managing milestones, budgets, KPIs, risks, scope changes, reporting, consortium partners, and cross-functional teams. Serve as the primary contact for government agencies and evaluators, protect intellectual property, ensure funder compliance, and establish scalable project management practices. The role requires formal Japanese documentation and agency communication, business-level English, and coordination with global stakeholders.

Lead development and optimization of quantum chip fabrication processes through structured experiments. Design, execute, and analyze investigations of materials and process flows, assess feasibility and integration for QPU architectures, transition R&D into scalable production, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor engineers and technicians, and document technical outputs including patents and reports.

Design, implement, simulate, and integrate VHDL FPGA IP for high-speed data processing. Benchmark and optimize throughput, latency, and resource usage. Align interfaces/protocols with hardware, firmware, and software teams. Contribute to tooling, verification, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to enable scalable quantum electronics.

Develop, refine, and characterize single- and two-qubit gates for superconducting quantum processors. Create calibration and benchmarking routines, analyze gate fidelities, collaborate across hardware and software teams, contribute to quantum error correction efforts, and (at senior level) mentor junior engineers and lead technical initiatives.

Serve as the technical bridge between IQM and customers in South Korea: design and present solutions, run technical workshops, PoCs and demos, produce technical proposals for tenders, gather product feedback, support full sales cycle, represent IQM at events, and travel across APAC to drive adoption of quantum systems.

Hands-on calibration and benchmarking of superconducting QPUs: develop and optimize calibration protocols, analyze experimental data to find bottlenecks, iterate with design and fabrication teams, support automated tune-up software and QPU deployment, and collaborate across hardware and software teams to improve system-level performance.

Support and build IQM Japans administrative functions: coordinate between Japan and HQ, manage government-funded program documentation (NEDO), run office operations, handle finance and procurement admin, maintain auditable records, and create/process standard operating procedures to scale the local office.

Design and document mechanical components, assemblies, and system layouts for quantum computing platforms. Create detailed 3D CAD models and production-ready designs, collaborate with cryogenics, microwave, and manufacturing teams, participate in design reviews, work with suppliers to release producible hardware, and produce engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and compliance documentation.
