Develops and implements Houston Grand Opera’s community engagement and education programs, including school, touring, early childhood, educator, and summer initiatives. Builds and stewards relationships with schools, cultural institutions, civic leaders, and community partners; manages assigned partnerships, budgets, events, educational materials, and program implementation. Supervises program staff and artistic team members, supports teaching artist recruitment and onboarding, represents HGO at community events, and identifies opportunities to expand audience engagement and organizational visibility.

Processes the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice review, coding, approvals, payment runs, expense reimbursements, vendor onboarding, and vendor maintenance. Administers corporate credit cards, reconciles fixed assets, calculates depreciation, prepares 1099 filings, supports audits, and assists with month- and year-end close. Serves as a key contact for vendors, contractors, and employees while maintaining internal controls and accurate financial records.

Build and alter costumes for Houston Grand Opera productions, with emphasis on stitching. Responsibilities include sewing new garments and alterations, preparing fabrics, cutting, fitting preparation, steaming, costume organization, and occasional crafts or millinery work. The role requires professional garment construction experience, strong machine and hand-sewing skills, attention to detail, deadline management, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment with fluctuating schedules.

Creates costume patterns and supports costume construction, fittings, alterations, and preparation for opera productions. Measures performers, evaluates rental costumes, calculates materials, operates industrial sewing equipment, and assists with department projects. The role requires coordinating multiple builds, meeting deadlines, maintaining accuracy under pressure, and collaborating professionally with supervisors, designers, vendors, and artists. Standing, lifting, reaching, and other physical activities are required, with schedules and overtime varying according to production needs.

Coordinate and execute grassroots marketing and audience engagement events, manage promotional partnerships and collateral, support cross-department outreach, maintain community-focused web content and email communications, track engagement and report on audience development.

Support technical operations for mainstage productions and special events: scheduling and crewing, sourcing and purchasing materials, maintaining production paperwork and inventory, attending rehearsals and show duty, overseeing technical setups, enforcing safety, and managing maintenance and preventative upkeep of tools and equipment.
