Leads the consumer underwriting department for a credit union, overseeing daily operations, staffing, workflow, service levels, and regulatory compliance. Serves as the senior escalation point for complex credit decisions, monitors credit quality and underwriting trends, recommends policy improvements, and manages underwriting metrics. Coaches and develops staff, coordinates with lending channels, provides training, and supports senior lending executives on portfolio risk and lending strategy.

Ensure the credit union complies with federal and state regulations; perform consumer and fair lending testing; develop, revise, and implement policies and procedures; train staff; maintain records and reporting; investigate complaints and present compliance findings to senior management.

Support Risk Manager by processing BSA/AML requirements (CTRs, SARs, OFAC/314a/314b), monitoring Verafin fraud alerts, handling subpoenas/garnishments/liens, managing insurance certificates and loss claims, conducting fraud and identity-theft investigations, and assisting members and staff with fraud affidavits and reimbursements.
