Founded by Industrialist Seth Walchand Hirachand in 1926, HCC has constructed a majority of India’s landmark infrastructure projects, having constructed 27 percent of India’s hydro power and over 60 percent of India’s nuclear power generation capacities, over 3,800 lane kilometers of expressways and highways, more than 383 major bridges and more than 364 kilometers of complex tunneling, of which over 204 kilometers are in the Himalayan region. Today, HCC Ltd. serves the infrastructure sectors of transportation, power, and water. Landmark projects executed by HCC include the Bandra Worli Sea Link − India’s first and longest open sea cable-stayed bridge; the Farakka Barrage – world’s longest barrage; the Kolkata Metro – India’s first Metro; a section of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, India’s first six-lane concrete expressway, and the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, India’s first and largest light water reactors.
