This hands-on role focuses on elegant, user-centered solutions for HaloBraid, a robotic hair-braiding device.

Design and architect mechanical systems and subassemblies for a novel braid-assist robotic device, taking concepts through prototyping, design for manufacturing, and production. Collaborate with mechanical, industrial design, electrical, manufacturing, supplier, and user teams. Manage engineers, establish engineering standards, and drive hands-on design decisions focused on usability, performance, and manufacturability.

Lead mechanical and systems engineering for HaloBraid: own subassemblies from 3D CAD through pilot to production, resolve design/tolerance/assembly/serviceability issues, apply DFM/DFA, build test frameworks, mentor engineers, and coordinate supplier and contract-manufacturer handoffs.

Design, implement, test, and document embedded systems and vision algorithms for a braid-assist robotic product. Improve real-time motion control, feedback systems, and integrate computer vision with hardware, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and design teams to move R&D into salon deployment.

Develop and refine embedded systems and real-time vision algorithms for a braid-assist robot. Implement, test, debug, and document embedded designs, collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and design teams, and integrate motion control, feedback control, and communication protocols into a robust, deployable product.
