Every day, she and her peers leverage data to refine the shopping experience for Gopuff customers, which involves tweaking the recommendation system to better suggest products to shoppers. To do this, her team is using elements of machine learning and AI, including techniques from large language models and transfer learning, to drive business growth. And according to Xu, all of these efforts reflect an overall focus on transformation. “Our company actively fosters a culture of innovation and continuous learning,” she said.

For Liston Ogana, a senior engineering manager at Gopuff, the biggest thing new hires can look forward to is working with a great group of talented people. “Since starting at Gopuff, I’ve been amazed by how humble and helpful everyone is,” he said. Ogana oversees teams dedicated to building a world-class customer experience, whether that involves creating efficient routing via machine learning or developing an interactive UI. Under Ogana’s guidance, the post-order engineering team is currently building a post-order customer interface that is interactive, map-focused and informative. “It will provide a new experience that will ultimately reduce the number of customer delivery status inquiries,” he said.

Imagine there’s a new Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor that’s generating a lot of buzz. But instead of merely reading about it or encountering online ads that simply show you a list of physical retailers where you can find the product, you visit the company’s website, place an order, and in about 30 minutes, the ice cream is on your doorstep. Maria Socaci’s team is trying to make this vision a reality with its new workstream. “Our objective is to empower direct-to-consumer brands to venture into the realm of instant delivery by harnessing Gopuff’s instant fulfillment and delivery capabilities,” she said. This ongoing project reflects the company’s focus on experimentation and exploration.
