Designs, develops, maintains, and executes Java-based UI, API, integration, regression, and end-to-end automated tests using Selenium and RestAssured. The role supports shift-left quality engineering, CI/CD test execution, test data management, defect investigation, traceability, documentation, and Agile delivery. It collaborates with engineers, product managers, SMEs, and QA colleagues while contributing to non-functional, performance, security, and accessibility testing for regulated healthcare and genomics software.

Develop and optimize algorithms for cancer genomic variant prioritization and classification. Analyze whole genome and NGS data across the complete workflow, from sequencing quality control through annotation and variant prioritization. Apply statistical and machine learning methods, evaluate analytical tools, and produce reusable, high-quality code using Python, R, Git, and CI/CD practices within a multidisciplinary team.

Lead the creation and growth of Genomics England’s SRE capability. Build and manage an initial team, identify high-value reliability improvements, establish engineering standards and tooling, reduce operational toil, and embed SRE practices across product squads. The role provides hands-on technical leadership across cloud and on-premise platforms, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring, resilience, and operational strategy while coaching teams and influencing engineering direction.

Provides principal-level technical leadership for enterprise data engineering across secure clinical and research platforms. Designs scalable cloud and hybrid data solutions, establishes standards for data modelling, governance, interoperability, resilience and security, and contributes hands-on to delivery. The role also guides architectural decisions, develops DataOps and DevOps practices, evaluates technologies, mentors engineers and collaborates with engineering, architecture, bioinformatics, product and governance teams.
