Pen Riders at Friona Industries ensure cattle health in the feedyard, reporting issues and maintaining livestock care while collaborating with teams.

Provide administrative and customer-facing support at a feedyard: weigh and grade inbound/outbound grain and fertilizer trucks, maintain grain accounting and inventory reporting, manage freight bills and customer settlements, enter and track transactions, answer phones, and collaborate with other departments.

Provide hands-on veterinary support in a feedyard: identify/treat sick or injured cattle, manage treatment records, perform necropsies, train staff on handling and surgical techniques, maintain medicine inventories and animal health metrics, assist with facility maintenance and cattle sorting, and support the Staff Veterinarian and Cattle Manager in animal health programs.

Monitor and maintain cattle health and welfare in the feedyard. Ride horses to observe livestock, detect and report sickness, segregate and move sick or stray cattle, inspect water systems, assist shipments, perform basic cattle doctoring, and maintain horses, tack, and facilities while following safety and Beef Quality Assurance standards.

Monitor daily cattle health and welfare, detect and report sick or stray animals, segregate and transfer sick cattle, inspect watering systems, assist with cattle movement and shipments, maintain horses and tack, follow safety and Beef Quality Assurance procedures, and perform other feedyard duties to support overall feedyard operations.

Monitor and maintain cattle health and welfare daily; observe, report, and segregate sick or stray cattle; inspect water systems; assist with cattle movement and shipments; care for horses, tack, and facilities; follow Beef Quality Assurance and safety procedures in outdoor feedyard conditions.
