Entry-level trainee role preparing candidates to become ophthalmic technicians. Responsibilities include patient history taking, exam preparation, scribing, patient education, ophthalmic measurements, diagnostic testing, equipment maintenance, and clear communication with patients, physicians, and staff. The role requires compliance with HIPAA and OSHA, flexible scheduling, and the ability to rotate among worksites.

Processes medical and vision insurance claims, audits coding and payer requirements, resolves denials, posts payments, manages patient accounts, and handles billing inquiries. Maintains accurate insurance and patient records, processes refunds and overpayments, monitors overdue accounts, and complies with confidentiality and regulatory requirements. Provides clerical support and assists with training while coordinating with clinic staff to ensure accurate billing information.

Coordinates retina clinical trials from study start-up through completion, ensuring protocol, ICH-GCP, IRB, HIPAA, and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include participant prescreening, informed consent, study visits, data and source-document management, adverse-event reporting, IRB correspondence, monitoring visits, staff training, equipment maintenance, and biological sample collection and shipment. The role requires clinical trial experience and may involve blood draws, centrifugation, and sample processing.

Accompanies ophthalmology physicians during patient exams, accurately transcribes histories, findings, diagnoses, procedures, and treatment instructions into the EHR. Updates medications, processes cultures, sends prescriptions, coordinates referrals and follow-up appointments, supports patient flow, assists with basic exam procedures, and manages related documentation and communications while maintaining HIPAA and OSHA compliance.

Supervise opticians, assist patients with eyeglass selection, manage inventory, ensure high-quality patient care, and train staff. Generate sales and implement policies.

Manages clinic operations, staffing, facilities, policies, compliance, quality assurance, vendor contracts, and patient experience. Oversees supervisors and employees, including hiring, training, performance management, and conflict resolution. Coordinates operational goals with physician leadership and the Director of Operations, ensures HIPAA and OSHA compliance, and supports quality patient care across ophthalmic, optometric, and opticianry services.

The Retina Scribe assists the physician during patient exams by transcribing notes, updating records, and managing patient flow, ensuring accurate documentation and communication.
