Greets and assists patients, handles calls and questions, discusses fees and financing, checks patients in and out, schedules appointments, bills insurance, enters CPT and ICD-10 codes, collects payments, and prepares daily deposits.

Document physician notes in the EMR, assist physicians during eye exams and in-office procedures, perform diagnostic imaging and measurements (corneal topography, fundus photos, retinal measurements), e-prescribe medications, prepare exam rooms, triage calls, and coordinate surgical and front-desk workflows to support patient care.

Provides direct nursing care in a surgical ophthalmology setting, including preoperative and postoperative monitoring, airway management, aseptic procedures, equipment and inventory maintenance, and communication with surgeons and anesthesiologists. Educates patients and families, coordinates care, protects privacy, and supports patient safety and homeostasis.

Coordinates clinical research trials from implementation through completion, including participant recruitment and retention, informed consent, protocol compliance, adverse event reporting, investigator and sponsor communication, regulatory recordkeeping, participant assessments, and timely data entry. The role also educates staff and partners, resolves study issues, and maintains accurate documentation for sponsors, IRBs, and FDA requirements.
