Write and edit accessible journalism about AI for a general audience. Responsibilities include pitching ideas, drafting articles, editing researchers’ and writers’ work, setting editorial standards, and helping launch a consistent media program. The founding editor will shape editorial direction and clarify technical material without oversimplifying it.

Produce and edit short-form AI videos for TikTok and Instagram, owning the process from ideation through publication. Develop sustainable video formats, manage posting and engagement strategies, and translate technical AI research into compelling content for general audiences. The role also involves shaping the organization’s social video presence from the ground up and collaborating with researchers and the media program lead in person in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Own design strategy for Epoch AI’s website and data products. Lead end-to-end design projects, create responsive interfaces, graphs, prototypes, and specifications, conduct user research, maintain design systems, establish quality standards, and mentor designers. The role focuses on translating complex AI research and statistical insights into intuitive experiences for researchers, policymakers, and other audiences.

Run, maintain, and expand an AI benchmarking infrastructure: implement and integrate benchmarks (primarily using the Inspect library), develop new benchmarks and prototypes, collaborate with researchers and engineers, and ensure evaluation outputs are accurate and integrated into research products.

Provide operations support for research teams by coordinating external experts and contractors, supporting data projects (security and licensing), organizing events, managing external communications channels, and handling logistical tasks to help new research initiatives start and run smoothly.

Own and operate the organisation's accounts, access, and cloud subscriptions; set practical security standards; identify and remediate risks hands-on; manage onboarding/offboarding access across core platforms; partner with engineers and researchers to ensure secure, usable controls.

Lead and conduct research projects analyzing AI capabilities, datacenters, supply chains, benchmarks, and trends. Produce datasets, benchmarks, reports, and forecasts; evaluate technical claims; collaborate across teams and communicate results clearly. Drive new research directions and prototype evaluation methods.

Contract data scientist to remotely gather, extract, and analyze technical information about AI models, benchmarks, data centers, and companies. Tasks include reading ML papers, tracking leaderboards, processing satellite images/permits, compiling infrastructure details, and producing data insights for research and policy. Part-time (10–30 hrs/week), flexible schedule with occasional Pacific Time meetings.
