Provides administrative and programme support for EMBO’s Young Investigator and Global Investigator activities. Responsibilities include managing correspondence, supporting application and selection processes, organizing meetings and courses, administering grants and programme benefits, maintaining databases and archives, tracking reports and documentation, and preparing statistics and reports. Supports digital transformation and change initiatives across HR, Finance, Procurement, and other business areas. Maintains Workday Help content, user documentation, procedures, training materials, and support resources. Coordinates stakeholder engagement, communications, training, change impact assessments, readiness activities, and user feedback. Works with subject matter experts, Change Managers, Programme Managers, and end users to support ERP transformation and adoption of new systems and processes.

Maintain and improve reliable infrastructure services supporting global scientific research. Responsibilities include identity and access management, email, data transfer, object storage, monitoring, automation, orchestration, and core Linux infrastructure across more than 3,000 servers. The role requires hands-on troubleshooting, Puppet and Foreman automation, directory services expertise, Python, Bash, documentation, and code review. The position is hybrid, with at least two onsite days weekly, and supports ongoing platform modernization and resilience.

Lead user research for EMBL-EBI’s Global Engagement programme, mapping biodata communities in low- and middle-income countries, identifying unmet needs, coordinating stakeholder outreach, and informing data resource development. The role connects global scientific communities with EMBL-EBI services and training teams, develops distributed research frameworks, identifies priority use cases, and advises on partnerships, engagement channels, and events.

Fully funded three-year postdoctoral fellowship focused on developing and improving scientific services for research infrastructures. Fellows conduct technology-development projects aligned with EMBL research areas, receive training in infrastructure operations and management, and build professional networks through secondments and job shadowing. Projects may involve computational science, imaging, optical engineering, robotics, mechanics, biotechnology, or omics. Applicants must hold or have defended a Ph.D. by September 30, 2026, possess relevant STEM training and technology-development experience, and demonstrate strong research potential.

Develop, operate and maintain microscopy-control software for instrument control, automation and real-time data workflows. Design GUIs, integrate hardware components, apply software-engineering best practices, diagnose software-hardware issues, support users, and introduce approaches (including AI) to improve reproducibility and performance.

Design, develop and test mechanical components and assemblies for advanced scientific instruments. Lead design reviews, coordinate manufacture with workshops and suppliers, integrate multidisciplinary systems, and support testing, implementation and continuous improvement of prototype devices.

The ESPOD postdoctoral fellowship supports three-year research projects combining experimental (wet lab) and computational approaches at EMBL-EBI and the Wellcome Sanger Institute. Fellows may choose advertised projects or propose self-defined projects (with group-leader agreement), conduct collaborative research, participate in campus seminars and career development, and relocate to Hinxton, UK.
