Responsibilities include managing storage, computing, networking, security, backups, disaster recovery, desktop environments, and user support across Windows, macOS, and Linux. The role also oversees infrastructure projects, team development, cross-site IT collaboration, and improvements supporting scientific research.

Leads EMBL-EBI’s global bioinformatics and AI training programme, setting strategy, driving innovation, managing the training team, engaging international stakeholders, building global capacity, securing funding, and overseeing operational delivery. The role promotes open, FAIR, inclusive data-science training across academia, industry, government, and public audiences, while collaborating with EMBL teams and international organisations.

Operate and improve EMBL-EBI’s cybersecurity capabilities through vulnerability management, incident response, security monitoring, technical control deployment, risk remediation, and security process optimization. The role administers security technologies, investigates threats, supports cloud and on-premises environments, develops metrics and dashboards, automates routine tasks with scripting, and advises technical teams on security improvements and operational resilience.

Provides high-level administrative support to the Head of Unit and broader research unit. Responsibilities include diary and meeting coordination, travel arrangements and reimbursements, correspondence, minute taking, financial administration, credit-card reconciliation, events and visitor coordination, recruitment logistics, procurement support, and backup coverage. Owns Finance Workday solutions across international sites, translating business needs into requirements, prioritizing enhancements, managing roadmaps, evaluating releases, supporting users, and driving process improvement. Collaborates with Finance, ERP, data, leadership, implementation partners, and vendors across accounting, budgeting, banking, expenses, assets, projects, reporting, and procurement-related workflows. Maintains documentation, provides training, and supports post-implementation operations.
