Maintain and improve reliable infrastructure services supporting global scientific research. Responsibilities include identity and access management, email, data transfer, object storage, monitoring, automation, orchestration, and core Linux infrastructure across more than 3,000 servers. The role requires hands-on troubleshooting, Puppet and Foreman automation, directory services expertise, Python, Bash, documentation, and code review. The position is hybrid, with at least two onsite days weekly, and supports ongoing platform modernization and resilience.

Manage and coordinate international, grant-funded life sciences projects, including plans, milestones, budgets, risks, reporting, stakeholder relationships and collaborative work packages. Design, deliver and evaluate training across in-person, virtual and on-demand formats; conduct training-needs and stakeholder analysis; develop competency frameworks; and support community-building, fellowships and train-the-trainer activities. The role requires strong scientific, communication, facilitation and organizational skills, with autonomy varying by appointment grade.

Lead user research for EMBL-EBI’s Global Engagement programme, mapping biodata communities in low- and middle-income countries, identifying unmet needs, coordinating stakeholder outreach, and informing data resource development. The role connects global scientific communities with EMBL-EBI services and training teams, develops distributed research frameworks, identifies priority use cases, and advises on partnerships, engagement channels, and events.
