Provides general animal care in a veterinary hospital, including walking patients, providing water, safe handling and restraint, cleaning kennels and clinical areas, laundry, waste removal, stocking supplies, and transporting patients and materials. Requires weekend, holiday, rotating-shift, and on-call availability. May drive a patient transport van and must maintain courteous communication with coworkers, clients, and vendors.

Two-week observational externship for fourth-year veterinary students at a specialty ER/ICU. Students observe clinicians in a fast-paced, AAHA-accredited, VECCS Level 1 teaching hospital. Externs work four 10–12 hour days per week, start every other Monday, and cannot receive university evaluations (attendance verification only). Externships exclude June and late December and require eligibility to work in the U.S. and a signed liability waiver.
