Coordinates and executes special events, including entertainment booking, vendor and contract management, budgeting, marketing collaboration, volunteer coordination, and day-of event oversight. Evaluates attendance, revenue, and audience outcomes while supporting facility rentals, beverage services, and group tours. Requires frequent communication with staff, visitors, vendors, contractors, and caterers, plus evening, weekend, holiday, and outdoor work.

Support daily butterfly exhibit operations by supervising staff and volunteers, managing visitor flow, enforcing exhibit and USDA APHIS requirements, inspecting facilities, reporting issues, and facilitating special attendance sessions. The role requires strong interpersonal and customer service skills, outdoor work, prolonged standing, flexible scheduling, and occasional work in extreme heat.

Provides guests with an enjoyable, educational, and safe butterfly exhibit experience. Shares information about butterflies, their lifecycle, host plants, and the Garden; enforces USDA APHIS entrance and exit procedures; maintains a clean, healthy pavilion; and performs opening, closing, nursery, and other exhibit operations. Works with visitors, volunteers, and staff in an outdoor environment, including weekends, holidays, heat, and varying weather conditions.

Lead strategic direction and management of a multidisciplinary desert research program. Oversee research strategy, funding, partnerships, compliance, translation of science to policy and public engagement, and supervise a team of 20+ staff to advance biodiversity, climate adaptation, water resilience, and threatened-plant conservation.
