Design and build custom scientific instruments across mechanical, electronics, and firmware domains; develop and execute NGS workflows and assays; maintain sequencing QC; troubleshoot experiments and validate assays with biologists; write protocols/SOPs; set up and maintain lab instrumentation; iterate prototypes to production and communicate technical tradeoffs to team and stakeholders.

Engineer eukaryotic genomes end-to-end for mammalian cell systems: design and build editing reagents, perform mammalian cell culture and deliveries (transfection/electroporation/LNP/viral), isolate clones, verify edits via NGS and Sanger, and validate genotype-to-phenotype using molecular and cellular assays while optimizing efficiency and minimizing off-target effects.

Manage day-to-day lab operations, safety compliance, and inventory/procurement. Support mammalian and microbial culture workflows, equipment maintenance, EHS interactions, shipping/MTA handling, routine lab tasks, and process improvements. Provide occasional on-call emergency response.

Build and own full-stack AI platform systems: backend services, data pipelines, frontends, and cloud infrastructure. Integrate LLM agents with lab data, instruments, and databases; prototype and harden agentic workflows; write well-tested code; mentor teammates and drive engineering best practices in a research-focused environment.

Apply population and comparative genomics to non-model organisms: build and run pipelines (variant calling, selection scans, phylogenomics), analyze organellar variation, assemble and annotate genomes and pan-genomes, integrate multi-omic data, apply machine learning where useful, collaborate with wet-lab teams, write reproducible code, present results, and mentor teammates.

Lead cross-team execution of multidisciplinary scientific programs, act as systems integrator, align stakeholders, prioritize scientific needs, run program reviews, assess risks, manage scope/milestones/resources, and communicate progress to leadership to deliver biological research and engineering projects.
