Leads pharmacy operations at a 772-bed acute care hospital, ensuring safe and cost-effective medication services, regulatory compliance, formulary management, drug supply integrity, quality improvement, staffing, professional development, budgeting, and strategic program implementation. Collaborates with physicians, nursing, administration, and hospital committees while supervising pharmacy personnel and maintaining pharmacist and consultant pharmacist licensure.

Leads hospital pharmacy departments during transitional periods, ensuring regulatory compliance, controlled-substance accountability, medication distribution quality, and safe pharmaceutical care. Manages pharmacy staff, projects, process improvement initiatives, technology installations, workflow reviews, policies, training, and the transition to a permanent pharmacy director. Requires extensive overnight travel across assigned hospital locations and may provide interim assistant director or staff pharmacist services.

Provide safe, cost-effective medication therapy; interpret and accurately transcribe drug orders; support pharmacokinetic consultations and protocol-based dosing; maintain patient medication profiles; inspect medication storage areas; supervise pharmacy support personnel; and collaborate with physicians and nurses. The pharmacist must hold or obtain New Mexico licensure and complete immunization certification.
