Own optical design, modelling (Zemax/COMSOL), tolerance analysis, integration with mechanical/electronic subsystems, manufacturing transfer, supplier management, and compliance with ISO 13485/IEC 60601-1. Contribute technically and drive V&V, design reviews, and production readiness.

Lead system-level requirements, architecture, integration, and V&V for a non-invasive neuromonitoring medical device. Manage requirements baselines and traceability, define system architecture and interfaces across hardware, software, and optical subsystems, drive integration and verification campaigns, support ISO 14971 risk management and regulatory evidence generation, and maintain systems engineering processes and tooling.

Lead embedded and real-time C++ development for a regulated medical device: design hardware abstraction, device drivers, and data acquisition; define technical strategy; ensure IEC 62304-compliant software quality; collaborate with FPGA/electronics teams; mentor engineers; contribute to risk management and system integration in a safety-critical clinical environment.

Design, author, and execute verification and validation test protocols across hardware, firmware, and software for a regulated medical device. Develop and qualify test methods/equipment, analyse results, report anomalies, maintain traceability matrices, support system integration and ISO 14971 risk activities, and produce regulatory-standard verification reports.

Drive component selection and supplier collaboration, develop optical simulations, perform precision alignment and characterisation, integrate optics with mechanical/electronic subsystems, contribute to design reviews and regulatory documentation (ISO 14971/13485/IEC 60601-1), and support transition to manufacturable hardware.

Lead and grow a mechanical engineering team to design, validate, and transfer precision mechanical and optomechanical medical device hardware to production. Contribute hands-on to CAD modelling, tolerance analysis, FEA, DFM/DFA, and cross-functional integration. Manage contract manufacturer relationships and ensure compliance with design controls, QMS, ISO 13485, and IEC 60601-1.

Define and architect end-to-end verification and compliance-as-code for a medical device software stack. Build scalable test infrastructure across embedded and cloud systems, integrate safety and regulatory evidence into CI/CD, lead AI-augmented test strategies, mentor engineers on TDD and automated quality gates, and collaborate with Systems and Regulatory teams to ensure IEC 62304 and ISO 14971 compliance.

Lead design, modelling, and validation of precision optical subsystems (interferometry, beam delivery, stray light control). Remove friction, force decisions, translate CEO priorities into operational plans, and provide accurate status and escalation. Operate credibly with senior leaders, run ambiguous/high-stakes workstreams to completion, and maintain discretion managing sensitive information.

Own day-to-day finance operations for UK and US entities, manage bookkeeping, month-end close, reporting, budgeting, payroll support, tax and audit coordination, vendor payments, process improvement, and apply AI tools to modernize finance workflows.
