The role requires strong diplomatic partnership management and knowledge of Sub-Saharan African contexts, with a focus on Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, and Ghana.

Develops legal and policy strategies supporting energy transition and biodiversity conservation across Japan and Southeast Asia. Conducts legal, regulatory, technical, and factual research; analyzes energy and nature conservation frameworks; engages governments, industry, civil society, and donors; builds regional partnerships; and represents ClientEarth in internal and external forums.

Legal trainees conduct environmental law research, draft legal opinions and memoranda, and participate in meetings with NGOs and stakeholders. The role supports ClientEarth’s work on emissions reduction, fundamental rights, environmental democracy, marine biodiversity, accountable corporations, and sustainable food systems. Applicants must be undertaking legal traineeship training in Germany, hold a law degree, understand relevant legal fields, and demonstrate C1-level English fluency.

Conduct legal and policy research on forest governance, Indigenous Peoples and local community rights, biodiversity conservation, and watershed management in the Philippines. Support country and regional strategy development, engage government agencies, civil society organizations, industry, donors, and traditional knowledge holders, and contribute to stronger environmental governance and sustainable livelihoods across Southeast Asia.

Manage environmental and climate projects, NGO sub-grants, strategic partnerships, fundraising initiatives, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. The role focuses on local and city-level transformation, particularly urban mobility and reducing car dependence. Responsibilities include collaborating with NGOs, civil society organizations, technical experts, external lawyers, policymakers, and decision-makers to advance strategic projects involving environmental, human rights, administrative, and public law.

Supports ClientEarth’s European Resources, Energy and Mobility team on litigation and advocacy projects, especially local and city-level governance and urban mobility. Responsibilities include legal research, analysis of laws and policies, project strategy, and collaboration with NGOs, civil society organizations, technical experts, lawyers, policymakers, and decision-makers. The role requires legal qualifications and familiarity with environmental, human rights, administrative, or public law.

Lead strategic human rights and environmental litigation in national courts and before the European Court of Human Rights. Develop rights-based legal interventions, support advocacy and legislative enforcement, shape team strategy, and build partnerships with civil society organizations, communities, external counsel, scientists, and policy experts.
