Receives and prioritizes emergency information through radio and telephone systems, dispatches public safety agencies, performs license, registration, and wanted-person checks, maintains files, and coordinates wrecker services. Requires calm decision-making during emergencies, effective communication, multitasking, computer and radio operation, completion of required telecommunications training and annual certifications, a valid Kentucky driver’s license, and availability for irregular shifts.

Patrols school properties, maintains student and staff safety, responds to unrest and threats, takes law enforcement action, supports emergency planning, refers youth and families to community services, provides testimony, and delivers safety training. The officer may work school events and must respond to emergencies, operate a vehicle, prepare reports, and physically restrain individuals when necessary.
