The role requires strong Python development, mathematical and algorithmic expertise, and collaboration across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Leads systems engineering for a scientific instrument platform, owning system architecture, technical budgets, requirements, verification and validation, risk management, reliability, controls, and design transfer to manufacturing. Builds and manages the systems engineering function, guides product roadmaps, oversees suppliers and contract manufacturers, drives cost reduction and quality improvements, and ensures platform performance across hardware, consumables, assays, software, and analysis.

Own end-to-end people operations, including onboarding, offboarding, leave administration, benefits, payroll support, and multi-state compliance. Manage Foster City workplace operations, vendors, events, and cross-site engagement. Coordinate recruiting logistics, offers, and pre-boarding while improving HR processes through automation. Partner with Finance, Legal, managers, and employees to deliver accurate, efficient, and responsive people services in a rapidly scaling startup.

Executes end-to-end workflows on the Cellanome R3200, including cell preparation, multi-day assays, automated library preparation, and final library quality control. Documents procedures and deviations in LIMS, follows SOPs and safety protocols, supports troubleshooting, and helps onboard new processes. The role requires collaboration with lab development teams, precise protocol execution, regular weekend coverage, and physical ability to handle laboratory tasks and lift up to 20 pounds.

Leads end-to-end cell and molecular biology workflows on the Cellanome R3200 platform, including cell processing, multi-day assays, automated library preparation, and final QC. Serves as the technical and operational lead for a Research Associate shift, coordinating schedules, service contracts, troubleshooting, documentation, training, and protocol qualification. Ensures quality and turnaround timelines, supports assay tech transfer and process improvements, and maintains laboratory safety and compliance.

Owns tactical execution for a life science software suite, driving releases to completion, prioritizing requirements, coordinating cross-functional teams, and maintaining roadmaps. Gathers customer and field feedback, supports commercial activities, and develops release notes, user guides, training materials, sales tools, and collateral. Requires expertise in genomic, functional, or single-cell analysis and experience launching life science software products.

Lead and grow the AI/ML team to design, train, and productize deep learning models for biological imaging and integrate imaging with transcriptomic data. Build ML infrastructure, identify opportunities, hire and mentor staff, and collaborate with R&D, software, and product teams.
