Nurse Externs gain supervised clinical experience while supporting patient care alongside Registered Nurses. Responsibilities include routine clinical tasks appropriate to training, RN shadowing, and supervised skills practice across medical-surgical, ICU, emergency, pediatric, mother/baby, and women’s and children’s units. Scheduling is flexible, with approximately 12 hours per week preferred. Extern I is for early nursing students; Extern II is for students entering their final program year.
