Perform marine fit-out joinery on submarines: layout, prefabricate and install bulkheads, doors, ceilings, furniture, shelving, consoles, ductwork and insulation. Operate woodworking and metalworking tools (including CNC shear/break, iron worker), read blueprints, perform material takeoffs, mount equipment, apply interior painting, and may direct assistants. Requires marine or comparable trade experience and proof of US Person status.

Installs, measures, cuts, threads, bends, supports, and tests piping systems aboard marine vessels. Reads blueprints and specifications, performs leak testing, rigs equipment safely, maintains tools and work areas, identifies and corrects problems, follows OSHA and company procedures, and supports team productivity and quality goals. Requires physical work in confined spaces, at heights, and under varied environmental conditions.

Oversee electrical engineering department goals for naval vessel projects, assign and review design calculations and drawings, ensure technical adequacy, and manage engineers, designers, and draftspersons. Coordinate with production teams, customers, regulatory bodies, program management, and equipment suppliers while meeting schedules and deadlines. Apply expertise in ship propulsion, power distribution, lighting, automation, controls, communications, maritime regulations, and naval vessel construction.

Performs marine fit-out work, including laying out, prefabricating, and installing bulkheads, doors, ceilings, shelving, furniture, consoles, ductwork, insulation, pipe coverings, pads, hangers, and equipment. Reads blueprints, performs material takeoffs, operates woodworking and metalworking tools, and may direct assistants or B Class employees. Requires marine or comparable construction trade experience, physical work in confined and elevated spaces, and adherence to OSHA and safety requirements.

Coordinates ship repair projects by monitoring schedules, costs, quality, safety, staffing, charge codes, and contract compliance. Maintains daily onboard presence, validates work progress and status reports, supports variance analysis, tracks resources, coordinates corrective actions, and promotes continuous improvement. The role communicates with project teams, production departments, clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and maritime authorities, and may support multiple offsite repair efforts requiring 25%–35% travel.

Manage Configuration Status Accounting (CSA) activities including development and maintenance of CDMD-OA database, ensuring Logistics Support Information accuracy, processing change orders affecting CSA, and coordinating with OEMs, Navy/SUPSHIP, Supply Chain, Engineering, and ILS team members.

Support Configuration Status Accounting (CSA) activities: update CSA and AEL baselines, interface with OEMs/suppliers/ISEAs/Navy, document engineering change impacts, perform sight validation, and provide ROM estimates. Cross-train across ILS as needed.

Perform provisioning activities including development of standard and non-standard provisioning packages, analyze OEM drawings/parts lists, liaise with suppliers, engineering, and supply chain, ensure parts data in technical manuals, process provisioning-related change orders, and cross-train within ILS as needed.

Develops and maintains Finance policies, procedure manuals, and related documentation. Responsibilities include interviewing subject matter experts, leading review meetings, communicating updates, conducting compliance testing, tracking corrective actions, and promoting organizational compliance. The role supports the Finance compliance lead and requires strong writing, communication, independent judgment, Microsoft applications, flowcharting software, and knowledge of government contracting regulations and audit environments.

Supports occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance in a shipyard environment. Conducts site, equipment, and safety inspections; investigates accidents; identifies hazards; recommends corrective actions; performs air monitoring and monthly safety inspections; provides first-response medical assistance; extinguishes incipient fires; mitigates small hazardous-material spills; and supports fire suppression activities. The role requires confined-space, height, shift, on-call, and physically demanding work.

Supports welders, fabricators, electricians, pipefitters, mechanics, and other trades during ship construction and repair. Prepares tools, materials, workstations, and shipboard areas; performs basic grinding, cutting, cleaning, bolt-up, component staging, and equipment maintenance. Maintains housekeeping, follows safety and PPE requirements, assists with confined-space and access procedures, communicates work issues, and completes documentation. The role includes on-the-job training, cross-craft support, and physically demanding work aboard vessels, at heights, and in confined spaces.

Manage and direct electrical engineering team for naval ship design and construction. Assign and check design calculations and drawings, progress department work, liaise with production, suppliers, customers and regulators, and ensure compliance with maritime standards and schedules.

Develop and check 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models for shipbuilding projects. Lead and review work of CAD drafters and Designer I, interface with production and multidisciplinary teams, and ensure designs meet schedules and standards.

Develop and check 2D/3D CAD drawings and models for shipboard pipe systems. Lead and train junior drafters/designers, coordinate with production and external teams, and ensure designs meet schedules, standards, and cross-discipline interfaces.

The Controls Engineer IV is responsible for the design, integration, and troubleshooting of automation and control systems in shipbuilding, mentoring other engineers, ensuring project completion, and maintaining compliance with regulations.

The Electrical Designer III develops 2D and 3D drawings, checks designs, and collaborates with teams for shipyard design projects.

Leads Austal’s West Coast ship repair and sustainment operations, overseeing P&L, contracts, workforce planning, production schedules, quality systems, compliance, subcontractors, and Navy vessel maintenance programs. Coordinates LCS and EPF repair efforts across domestic and international locations, validates earned value and schedule performance, manages corrective actions, and represents the company with government, industry, and community stakeholders. The role requires extensive vessel-site work, travel, physical activity, and leadership experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, or industrial construction.

Develop and check 2D and 3D electrical CAD drawings, coordinate with production and cross-functional teams, lead and train CAD drafters/designers, and create interference-free 3D models from schematics and vendor data to meet shipyard production schedules and customer requirements.
