Designs and builds scalable backend architecture for a global banking platform. The Staff Engineer will lead system design, coding, testing, deployment, reliability, and operational excellence while solving distributed-systems challenges. Responsibilities include making architectural decisions, translating product requirements into technical solutions, mentoring engineers, defining backend standards, and driving cross-functional technical initiatives. The role is highly hands-on and requires expertise in databases, queues, caching, cloud infrastructure, and building services from scratch.

Own Aisha, Aspora’s AI finance agent, from early development through trusted real-money tasks. Lead product strategy, roadmap, agent architecture, reliability, evaluations, guardrails, consumer experience, research, hiring, and cross-functional work with compliance, legal, payments, and the CEO. Build a founding team and determine what to build, buy, or partner on across models, orchestration, data connections, and payment rails.

Leads and mentors engineering teams, sets technical direction, contributes to architecture and hands-on problem-solving, and drives end-to-end delivery. Partners with Product, Support, and Operations to prioritize work, remove blockers, maintain engineering quality, and improve pod-level performance metrics.

Resolve customer queries across chat, email, and phone, owning cases from first contact through full resolution. Collaborate with Product, Tech, Operations, and Compliance to address concerns, identify recurring issues, and help implement upstream process, product, and technology improvements. The role requires clear communication, strong ownership, comfort with ambiguity, and availability for in-office 24x7 rotational shifts, including nights, six days per week.

Lead and unify product, brand, and marketing design under a single vision. Hire and scale multidisciplinary teams, evolve the design system, set quality standards and operating rhythms, and partner with Product, Engineering, Growth, and Marketing. Split time between leadership (60%) and hands-on product design (40%), ensuring consistent brand integrity across markets and channels.

Lead end-to-end product design for Aspora's fintech platform: conduct user research, create wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes, evolve the design system, mentor designers, collaborate with Product and Engineering, and deliver consistent accessible experiences across mobile and web.
