Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of operational and customer service standards across a national railway operation. Partner with Operations, Fleet, Safety, HR and Learning teams to embed practical standards, use audits and performance data to identify improvements, and produce actionable dashboards and reports. The role requires railway operational credibility, whole-system safety thinking, strong stakeholder engagement, objective judgement and collaborative leadership to improve service quality, customer experience and operational performance.

Maintain and repair buses, PSVs, vehicles, and engineering equipment through preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs, modifications, and upgrades. Interpret technical documentation, maintain accurate records, follow DVSA and safety standards, support fleet reliability, and contribute to workshop improvements. Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and apprentices while collaborating with workshop and operations teams.

Supports stores operations in a railway engineering environment, including loading and unloading deliveries, inspecting and booking goods into SAP, managing storage locations, issuing and picking materials, processing returns, assisting with stock counts, maintaining housekeeping standards, and performing forklift duties. The role may also involve local supplier deliveries, simple supervised rail vehicle maintenance, and compliance with safety and railway standards.

Lead a portfolio of HR projects and transformation programmes, including organisational change, workforce planning, employee engagement, process improvement, and HR systems implementation. Responsibilities include planning, governance, budgeting, risk management, stakeholder engagement, change communications, workshops, reporting, and continuous improvement. The role partners with HR, IT, senior leaders, and external suppliers to deliver people-focused initiatives on time and within scope.

Manage the full bid lifecycle from qualification to submission and award. Develop persuasive bid content, design costed transport solutions, support pricing and commercial modelling, coordinate stakeholders and suppliers, maintain pipeline and CRM records, and assist mobilisation of successful bids.

Supervise daily bus depot operations, ensuring driver attendance, duty and vehicle allocation, service coverage, safety compliance, customer service, and KPI performance. Manage absence, timekeeping, overtime, employee development, trade union relationships, complaints, lost mileage, and service disruptions. Coordinate with Engineering to maintain vehicle availability, support continuous improvement, and promote company values, equality, diversity, inclusion, and community engagement.

Perform timely reconciliation of supplier statements, investigate and resolve discrepancies, manage invoice holds and return-to-vendor processes, liaise with internal stakeholders and suppliers, generate reconciliation reports, support aged query resolution, and ensure compliance while driving AP process improvements.

Perform servicing, maintenance and repairs to Arriva and DVSA standards including vehicle fault diagnostics, preventative maintenance, MOT preparation and quality checks, and attending roadside breakdowns for buses and coaches.

Support the Engineering Manager in planning and overseeing maintenance operations, supervise and develop engineering staff, monitor fleet performance, ensure H&S compliance, manage parts/procurement, assist projects, investigate incidents, and report to senior management.

Provide operational support for payroll programs and processes, assist with payroll data entry and reconciliations, respond to payroll inquiries, maintain documentation, and support payroll system updates and project tasks with internal stakeholders.

Build, repair, and maintain vehicle bodies and coachwork. Perform body fitting, metal fabrication, panel alignment, and general workshop tasks to restore or service vehicle bodies.

Perform planned and preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and reactive repairs on commercial buses to Arriva and DVSA standards. Assist with MOT preparation, preventative maintenance campaigns, quality checks, and improve fleet reliability. Work flexible shifts and follow safety, medical, and licensing requirements.

Perform servicing, maintenance and repairs on buses/coaches to Arriva and DVSA standards. Diagnose faults, carry out preventative maintenance, prepare vehicles for MOTs, perform quality checks and attend roadside breakdowns.

Maintain, diagnose, and repair passenger service vehicles across North East depots. Perform routine and corrective maintenance, use diagnostic tools, follow safety procedures, and collaborate with depot teams. Support training and career development; PCV licence helpful.

Perform routine servicing, inspections and MOT prep on buses; diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults; replace components; complete job cards; maintain workshop safety and minimise vehicle downtime.

Perform servicing, maintenance and repairs to Arriva and DVSA standards on passenger service vehicles. Prepare vehicles for MOT, conduct planned preventative maintenance, diagnose faults, improve vehicle reliability, and follow engineering and health & safety procedures.

Perform preventative maintenance, inspections and repairs on buses. Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults, replace components, prepare vehicles for MOT, record work, follow safety rules, and attend training to stay current with vehicle technologies.

Perform preventative and reactive electrical maintenance, diagnostics, installations and testing on bus electrical systems. Maintain records, ensure compliance with regulations and safety, collaborate with teams, support improvements, and provide technical guidance.

Support the Engineering Manager to run depot engineering operations, ensure DVSA and safety compliance, meet PVR and KPI targets, supervise and allocate team workloads, manage resources and costs, maintain records and reporting, drive fleet reliability improvements, and liaise with stakeholders including unions.

Lead and supervise a team of engineering technicians to maintain, diagnose, repair, and overhaul buses. Ensure compliance with safety, VOSA/DVSA and manufacturer standards, manage workshop resources, maintain records, support training, and drive continuous improvement.
