The Pauli Murray Fellow supports the ACLU’s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging team through event coordination, internal communications, accessibility support, EDIB data collection and analysis, reporting, trainings, employee resource group requests, and special projects. This entry-level, 18-month fellowship emphasizes organizational leadership, project management, collaboration, discretion, restorative practices, and commitment to civil rights, civil liberties, equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

Develop and execute advocacy communications strategies for the ACLU’s national and affiliate networks. Responsibilities include producing rapid-response resource digests, coordinating nationwide communications meetings, maintaining communications resources, supporting community building, and completing a capstone project focused on expanding supporter engagement. The fellow will build skills in strategic communications, internal campaigns, resource development, project management, stakeholder coordination, and meeting facilitation.

Supports prospect development and portfolio strategy operations for a nonprofit fundraising team. Responsibilities include managing research requests, researching and rating donor capacity, maintaining donor information, preparing event biographies and qualification lists, managing spreadsheets and database uploads, supporting portfolio reporting, tracking budgets and expenses, coordinating travel logistics, and assisting with special projects while protecting confidential donor information.

Conduct impact litigation and advocacy in the national security context. Responsibilities include legal research, fact development, drafting memoranda and court filings, interviewing clients and witnesses, discovery and trial support, public education, affiliate assistance, intern coordination, public speaking, and related projects.

Provide litigation support for the Program on Freedom Religion and Belief: cite-check, format, and proof documents; conduct legal and factual research (including Westlaw); assist with discovery, docket/calendar management, depositions preparation, and correspondence; track legislation; maintain files and public information; receive legal assistance requests and support program projects and outreach.

Develop and pursue impact litigation and advocacy challenging abusive criminal-law practices and policing. Draft pleadings and briefs, lead discovery, hearings, trials and appeals, advise affiliates and partners, support policy and communications, mentor junior staff, and collaborate across ACLU departments to advance criminal and racial justice.

Lead impact litigation and advocacy on immigrants' rights, handling federal court cases, legal research and writing, discovery and motions, client and partner coordination, policy advocacy, public speaking, supervision of paralegals/interns, and rapid-response efforts to immigration enforcement events.

Lead large, complex internal advocacy projects across issue areas; design tracking systems; manage communications, budgets, and stakeholder collaboration; draft and edit materials; serve as strategic partner to senior leadership; adapt priorities, solve problems, and support special projects with occasional travel and nontraditional hours.

The Senior Accountant oversees tax and pension benefit areas, ensuring compliance, accuracy in reporting, managing audits, and supporting financial decision-making processes.

The Senior Campaign Lead manages the ACLU's political agenda in democracy, leads campaign strategy, develops priorities, and advises on complex campaigns.
