Partner with Product, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, and Finance to influence strategy and roadmaps, communicate insights to leadership, mentor data professionals, and establish standards for growth analytics.

Build and scale global payments and treasury systems using resilient, event-driven, microservice-based architecture. Design and implement cloud-native services, client-facing APIs, distributed systems, payment rails, financial ledgers, and reconciliation solutions. Collaborate independently and across teams, troubleshoot complex issues, maintain high-quality tested code, and contribute to technical and product goal definition.

Own the data transformation layer by building scalable dbt and SQL models on Trino and GCP infrastructure. Establish standards for modeling, testing, monitoring, version control, and data quality. Partner with finance, operations, customer success, marketing, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable data products for BI, reporting, and reverse ETL. Design, build, and maintain crypto exchange, market-making, wallet, funding, tokenization, backend, and web application systems. Ensure software quality through testing and code reviews, troubleshoot incidents and bugs, and collaborate cross-functionally on scalable, low-latency, fault-tolerant financial infrastructure. On-call participation may be required for timely engineering initiatives.

Own the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of Alpaca’s listed futures and prediction market products. Partner with engineering, operations, risk, compliance, regulators, exchanges, clearing organizations, and institutional clients to launch and scale the firm’s regulated FCM. Define requirements, evaluate build-versus-buy decisions, improve margin, clearing, settlement, and trading-risk workflows, and ensure CFTC/NFA compliance across the derivatives platform.

Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-availability brokerage systems for Japan. Develop backend microservices, APIs, financial integrations, and middle- and back-office systems supporting multi-currency transactions, accounting, settlement, and Japan-specific regulations. Collaborate with global engineering teams and Japanese regulators, vendors, and partners; translate requirements into technical solutions. Participate in incident response, on-call rotations, architecture, mentoring, recruitment initiatives, and regional engineering projects.

Build and architect Alpaca’s high-performance algorithmic trading platform. Responsibilities include writing backend and frontend code, designing distributed and highly available systems, optimizing low-latency and high-throughput performance, and developing scalable databases, messaging systems, concurrency controls, and service-oriented architectures. The role also involves making critical platform decisions and potentially contributing to order and risk management, trading systems, observability, cloud infrastructure, and financial ledger capabilities.

Leads Alpaca’s global tax function, overseeing tax strategy, compliance, reporting, planning, ASC 740 tax provisions, transfer pricing, indirect taxes, and international tax matters. Partners with Finance, Legal, Treasury, Product, and business leaders on transactions, expansion, and regulated financial-services activities. Manages advisors, audits, tax authorities, controls, forecasting, M&A tax diligence, and public-company readiness while building scalable internal tax capabilities.

Manage global equity settlement operations across international markets, including trade matching, settlement exception resolution, cash and position reconciliations, and aged-fail remediation. Coordinate with custodians, counterparties, trading, finance, compliance, and engineering teams. Support SEC, FINRA, and global regulatory controls, reporting, audits, and process improvements. Use SQL, Metabase, and automation tools to improve operational efficiency and analytics.

Own content strategy and go-to-market storytelling for Alpaca’s crypto and tokenization products. Create educational content, launch posts, explainers, newsletters, and thought leadership for B2B and B2C audiences. Develop messaging for issuers, exchanges, market makers, and institutional partners while translating complex product concepts into clear narratives. Collaborate with product, compliance, design, and marketing teams on launches, partner announcements, SEO, content distribution, and adoption initiatives.

Own global total rewards programs, including compensation, job architecture, market pricing, pay cycles, benefits coordination, pay equity, and compensation systems. Partner with Recruiting on leveling and offers, and with Finance on headcount planning, budgeting, scenario modeling, and M&A analysis. Lead analytical People projects, build scalable processes, maintain accurate workforce data, and provide clear recommendations to leaders across a distributed international workforce.

Own Alpaca’s internal infrastructure and developer platform as a product. Define platform maturity, manage intake and backlogs, establish multi-quarter roadmaps, improve CI/CD adoption, reduce maintenance windows, drive cost attribution and efficiency, and enable globally portable infrastructure. Partner with engineering, DevOps, Platform, and Finance teams to create self-service golden paths, anticipate dependencies, and support reliable deployment across regulated, market-hours-sensitive environments.

Provide IT helpdesk support and device administration across Windows, macOS, and Linux. Manage MDM, SSO, enterprise SaaS, onboarding/offboarding, hardware deployment, asset inventory, endpoint security, and related procurement/shipping. Troubleshoot networks (LAN/WAN), create automation scripts, deliver staff training, participate in on-call rotations, and collaborate with HR and Security teams to maintain secure, scalable IT operations.

Design and ship internal tools for complex financial operations. Own the full product design process from research and workflow discovery through prototyping, validation, implementation, and iteration. Create AI-powered prototypes, contribute production frontend code, design data-rich operational interfaces, support design systems, and collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams.

Leads Alpaca’s global major-incident function, building a 24x7 follow-the-sun command team, severity model, escalation paths, metrics, and review processes. The role coordinates engineering, SRE, Risk, communications, and reliability teams without owning technical fixes. It establishes incident KPIs, drives post-incident actions, develops commander training, and leads AI-based automation for incident setup, timelines, root-cause analysis, communications, and action tracking across a regulated financial-services platform.

Command high-severity production incidents from declaration through mitigation, coordinating technical responders, severity decisions, escalations, stakeholder communications, regional handoffs, and post-incident follow-up. Maintain accurate incident timelines, ensure retrospectives and accountable action items, and improve response processes through automation. The role requires participation in a global 24x7 incident commander roster and familiarity with fintech and regulated API-driven platforms.
