The billion-dollar esports market is gaining more mainstream appeal and now multi-platinum selling, Grammy and Golden Globe nominated recording artist Wiz Khalifa is getting in on the action.
The Pittsburgh Knights, a global esports company, has announced that Wiz Khalifa will be a strategic partner, advising creative direction, marketing, live events and entertainment. Fans of Wiz Khalifa might recognize the Pittsburgh connection, considering how he proudly reps the Black and Yellow of his Steel City hometown. The Knights inked a partnership with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2018.

The excitement is mutual on the Pittsburgh Knights team. Knights president James O’Connor warmly welcomed Wiz in a statement, calling him a “visionary” who is “always ahead of the curve.”
In a Forbes exclusive interview, Wiz explained why he believes that esports involvement has been trending with musicians such as Steve Aoki and Deadmau5. “Nowadays artists are breaking music as well premiering on different platforms like Twitch,” Wiz told Forbes. “I have always tried to be at the forefront of technology and I think this is another amazing moment in history. I am happy to be a part of it.”
