As the largest country in the United Kingdom, England is home to some of the most prominent domestic tech startups and is a key location for many international companies, too. The region is the second largest tech hub, following the United States, with some 100,000 companies in the industry that excel in software development, AI and cybersecurity. Revolut is a popular British neobank that provides personal and business financial solutions. Its banking platform offers checking accounts, crypto exchanges and currency conversion in over 140 countries. Revolut was founded in 2015 and reached 45 million users before gaining its U.K. regulatory banking license in 2024.

 

Ocado Group develops automation tech for the grocery industry. The Ocado Smart Platform is a comprehensive solution that uses robotics, AI and automation software for e-commerce fulfillment. Ocado Group also provides retailers with e-commerce software that helps brands revamp their digital storefronts.

 

IBM is a major software company and developer of enterprise AI. The company maintains several offices in England and provides automation and IT software for clients across nearly all industries. It recently added AI products to its lineup, enabling companies to train large language models, or LLMs, with internal data and deploy chatbots.

 

Endava employs over 11,000 individuals who help provide custom tech solutions to its clients. In addition to consulting, the company offers data and AI expertise to clients across multiple sectors, including logistics, healthcare and finance.

 

Arm designs semiconductors and accompanying software; it partners with major companies like Apple, NVIDIA and Samsung. Sage develops enterprise software with integrated AI tools. For example, its Safe Intacct platform provides cloud accounting and payroll solutions. The platform uses artificial intelligence to detect financial anomalies and automate time-consuming processes. Sage reports that it employs over 11,000 individuals.

 

Headquartered in Berkshire, Vodafone provides telecommunication services across Europe and Africa. Its services connect everything from everyday consumer tech, like cell phones and computers, to safety infrastructure through its high-speed 5G technology.

 

Deliveroo is the Uber Eats of England. Through the application, people can order food from various restaurants and have it delivered to their home or office. Additionally, users can sign up as delivery drivers to make extra income. Deliveroo has several thousand employees who help maintain and improve its platform.
