Summary: IT professionals at Allwyn, ABN AMRO Clearing USA, NinjaTrader and Inspira Financial enjoy flexibility, upskilling support, and high-impact work. Teams emphasize collaboration, career growth, and job security across fintech, healthcare and infrastructure domains.

Having a role in IT is a little like having a golden goose when it comes to a future-proof job.

Even with a tricky job market — a report by the McKinsey Global Institute estimated that automation will eliminate 73 million jobs by 2030 — roles in IT stand a good chance of evolving in tandem. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that employment in IT occupations will grow much faster than the national average from 2023 to 2033.

Built In found four IT technologists who were eager to share how their company supports their professional growth, job security and team culture.

Gregg Adu

What is your role on the IT team? What are your responsibilities?
I am employed as a senior infrastructure engineer at Allwyn Illinois LLC. Furthermore, I supervise infrastructure configuration changes within Allwyn’s colocation data centers and manage multiple domain controller servers.

I actively engage in audit activities, which include the collection of evidence to demonstrate that Allwyn adheres to industry best practices and complies with regulatory requirements. Furthermore, I implement security patches for devices and systems in accordance with the recommendations provided by the security team.

How does your employer support IT professionals? What opportunities for learning and growth are offered? How does your team effectively work together?
Allwyn provides an exceptional learning and development program that fully funds training and certification exams. This initiative has inspired me to pursue a minimum of two professional certifications each year. Furthermore, I have the privilege of collaborating with a team of highly experienced engineers and security professionals, which has significantly contributed to my skill development, understanding of best practices and proficiency in troubleshooting techniques.

Why might someone want to join your company’s IT team? What routines, traditions and perks does your team offer?

Matthew McNeive
Software Developer • ABN AMRO Clearing USA LLC

What is your role on the IT team? What are your responsibilities?
As a Java software developer, I am a part of a group known as market infrastructure, which is responsible for capturing and processing trade messages from various stock exchanges. The company is working on modernizing and globalizing technology, and our team is responsible for rewriting those applications. My responsibilities include developing new applications and ensuring they meet all requirements for a global clearing company.

How does your employer support IT professionals? What opportunities for learning and growth are offered? How does your team effectively work together?
ABN Amro Clearing USA LLC has several programs in place that help to support the growth of IT professionals. Currently, I am enrolled in a graduate program in Chicago pursuing an MBA and taking advantage of the firm’s generous tuition reimbursement program.

In addition to tuition reimbursement, employees can utilize a training budget to help them advance in their careers. This is all self-driven, allowing me to pick exactly which skills I want to improve on and select training or courses to help get me there.

Why might someone want to join your company’s IT team? What routines, traditions and perks does your team offer?
For my team, communication is very crucial for success. I work on a cross-regional team, with members living in the USA, Spain, London and Amsterdam. Initially, when we globalized, due to the time zone differences, staying up to date on projects was a challenge. We focused on improving communication, which resulted in the efficiency of the team improving.

We have all heard the stories of the companies where IT engineers are expected to work 60+ hour weeks. That is not the case here. We have achieved a great environment that allows for productivity and flexibility. While we have a hybrid work policy, it is easy to change which days you come into the office or which hours you work based on what best fits the business and your personal schedule.

Personally, I stick to a Tuesday through Thursday schedule for when I am in the office, but if I have an appointment one of those days, I can swap it for one of my work-from-home days easily. This level of flexibility has proven to be very popular with employees and helps us to achieve that great work-life balance.
