Firestorm Labs, a San Diego-based builder of mobile, on-demand defense manufacturing systems, has raised $47 million in Series A funding. New Enterprise Associates led the round, with additional investments from Lockheed Martin Ventures, Decisive Point, Washington Harbour Partners and Booz Allen Ventures, among others.

According to a news release, the funding total includes $12 million in venture debt from J.P. Morgan. Firestorm plans to use its recent funding to grow its team of engineers, open a larger production facility and expand its network of defense and industry partners.

Additionally, the funding will reportedly help scale Firestorm’s flagship product, xCell, a mobile manufacturing unit described by the company as a “factory-in-a-box” that can quickly produce modular airframes, mission payloads and replacement parts directly in the field.
