Colossal Biosciences, a Dallas-based biotech company working to achieve de-extinction and species preservation, has appointed Emily Castel as its chief marketing officer. Castel, formerly president and chief brand officer of Teton Ridge, brings her experience in global entertainment and consumer brand marketing to Colossal.
Last year, the company secured $150 million in funding to fuel its goal of reviving species like the woolly mammoth and the dodo bird. Upon joining the Colossal team, Castel will be responsible for scaling the company’s brand, consumer products and emerging media properties, with a focus on educating consumers about de-extinction and conservation.
Castel has worked extensively in Hollywood, having orchestrated global marketing strategies for major entertainment properties such as Tim Burton’s Alice & Wonderland and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. She also worked with distribution partners Warner Bros and Universal on titles including Jurassic World, Warcraft and Kong: Skull Island.
At Colossal, Castel will lead a growing team of brand and consumer talent. With her expertise, Castel aims to inspire global communities to engage in the Colossal’s mission of preserving species and furthering their existence on Earth.
