Coinbase has made stock trading available to all of its users in the U.S. through Coinbase Capital Markets. The company has also partnered with Yahoo Finance to enable smarter trading experiences by streamlining the journey from asset discovery and monitoring.
Coinbase users based in the United States will be able to buy, sell and manage stocks and ETFs in the same app they use to manage their crypto holdings. Coinbase Capital Markets will also facilitate trading 24 hours a day, five days a week across thousands of stocks.
Initially, 24/5 trading will be available for the market’s leading equities, but Coinbase plans to expand to additional stocks over the coming months. As it works toward enabling “a truly always-on market,” Coinbase also expects to offer tokenized stocks in the future.
Under the Yahoo Finance partnership, users who are researching an asset on Yahoo Finance will be able to click a button to go to Coinbase to execute a trade. Real-time information from Coinbase on crypto assets will also be incorporated into Yahoo Finance, and Yahoo Finance users will be able to access a free one-month Coinbase One Basic trial*.
“Our Everything Exchange vision is about removing artificial boundaries between asset classes and building for the next generation of markets. This expansion is a foundational step toward unifying traditional investments and digital assets into a single platform, simplifying portfolio management and unlocking what comes next,” a post from the company stated.
