Artificial intelligence research firm Anthropic has “acqui-hired” several team members from Humanloop, a company that helped enterprise customers manage and evaluate their AI applications. Humanloop’s three co-founders and executive leaders, Raza Habib, Jordan Burgess and Peter Hayes, all joined Anthropic’s team.
While Humanloop’s assets and intellectual property were not technically acquired, several engineers and researchers also came on board, according to reporting from TechCrunch. The move enables Humanloop to further its goal of facilitating an AI future that benefits everyone. This vision lines up with Anthropic’s stated mission of building reliable, interpretable, steerable AI systems.
“From the start, our mission at Humanloop has been to enable the safe and rapid adoption of AI. Now, as the pace of AI progress accelerates, we think Anthropic is the ideal home to amplify our impact,” Humanloop’s co-founders wrote on their company’s homepage, following the announcement.
Since spinning out of University College London, Humanloop has secured $7.91 million in funding from investors including Albion, Index, YC, Local Globe and UCLTF. This news for Anthropic follows the company’s recent release of its improved Claude Opus model, signifying its commitment to continue enhancing its AI offerings.
